Demi Lovato Slid Into This 'Schitt's Creek' Star's DMs

On the latest edition of "Celebrities Are Just Like Us," Emily Hampshire of "Schitt's Creek" revealed that Demi Lovato slid into her DMs to ask for a date.

As reported by BuzzFeed, Hampshire let slip some of the details around their exchange during an episode of Lovato's podcast, "4D with Demi Lovato." And just like us, things did not go as planned.

"You slid in my DMs and you said, 'Hey, I like you on the show. We should kick it sometime,'" Hampshire explained. "And then you said, below it, 'And by kick it, I mean go on a date. I find you attractive.' You made it clear it was a date."

She added that she appreciated the straightforward approach.

"I loved that because I was like, 'Sometimes that's confusing!' I'm decades older than you, so 'kick it,' I was looking it up," said Hampshire.

While on the subject of being a decade older, Hampshire said the age difference was a major factor for her not to pursue Lovato romantically. Hampshire is 11 years older than Lovato.

But Lovato wasn't giving up so easily, comparing their potential as a couple to out actors and girlfriends, Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor, who are 46 and 78, respectively.

"I thought it was the funniest thing in the whole world because I was a Holland Taylor in that situation. Proud to be," said Hampshire.

In response, Lovato simply explained that a person can dream. "I was like, 'What's the worst that could happen?' And then I made a really good friend. You're a dope friend, and I'm happy we became friends."

"Me too," Hampshire said. "I wish you weren't 29!"
