Nasty Women Concert Series Makes Worldwide Premiere

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

On July 8 in Long Beach, the Nasty Women Concert Series will kick off, bringing together the women's community through the healing power of music and comedy, especially those women who have been marginalized because of their gender identity and sexual orientation.

From the ashes of the ERA movement and the polarizing U.S. presidential election of 2016, began the vision for the Nasty Woman Concert Series (NWCS). After the kickoff at diPiazza's in Long Beach, the concert series will then expand throughout California and the West Coast.

"If the 1997 Lilith Fair and the 2017 Women's March were to get married, The Nasty Woman Concert Series would be their first-born child," said Susan McKenna, CEO of NWCS. "We anticipate the series expanding across the country to New York City and Washington, D.C., to name a few."

There will also be vendors, a tarot card reader, photo booths and many other activities for guests. Premiere sponsors for the Nasty Woman Concert Series are A Great Event and diPiazza's Lounge of Long Beach, CA. The Nasty Woman Concert Series is produced by Nasty Woman Concerts, LLC with proceeds for the 2017 shows benefitting local non-profit organization, The L-Project.

"We are excited to be the named beneficiary of the NWCS's 2017 proceeds. We think the NWCS is well-aligned with our mission: to create safe places for women of all gender identities and sexual orientations, and their allies," said Chris Baldwin, President of the LA chapter of the L-Project.

All of the performers for this inaugural show are female-fronted, with a dash of drag queen and a gender fluid singer. The fabulous line-up includes No Small Children, whose work can be heard as the new theme song for the "Ghostbusters" movie (2016) and for the soundtrack of Netflix original series, "Santa Clarita Diet" with Drew Barrymore.

The other headline act, Kelly Mantle, gained much fame from appearing on Season 6 of "RuPaul's Drag Race," along with guest-starring on many TV shows like "The New Normal," "Rizzoli & Isles," "Eagleheart," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and countless others. Also joining the music lineup are Abby and the Myth, Doll Parts and Shitting Glitter (headed by NWCS co-founder, Amy Crosby). Wendy Ho, the number one female drag queen in the country and Billboard top 10 comedic recording artist, will serve as emcee.

The Nasty Women Concert Series will kick off on July 8 at diPiazza's Lounge, 5205 E. Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, CA. There are several VIP booths and VIP Back Stage passes available.
