A 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Moment? Cheryl Hines Is Snubbed by Trump

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Poor Cheryl Hines. The "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actress had a moment right out the HBO comedy series on Saturday night at a UFC event in Miami at which she was snubbed by Donald Trump.

Reports the Daily Beast: "Footage from the evening's fight at Kaseya Centre in Miami shows the president approach Hines' husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., then hug him before airing the 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star's outstretched hand."

To say she looked shocked is to put it mildly. She frowned, stuck out her lip and turned towards her smiling husband, as if to say "WTF?" (Some have said that is what she says to her husband.)

"Kennedy has publicly acknowledged that his wife, a self-described "lifelong Democrat," was uncomfortable with his decision to support Trump after suspending his own independent presidential campaign," reports Newsweek.

"The viral moment may further complicate the already delicate political position of Hines, who has previously had to navigate the challenges of being married to a Kennedy while maintaining her own political identity."

Newsweek reached out to both Hines and the White House for comment, but received none.

The Daily Beast adds: "While Trump eventually circled back to greet her, the awkward episode shone fresh light on the rift between the pair.

"The actress has in the past made little secret of her disdain toward the president and, in particular, his attitude toward women. She previously took aim at Trump for his disparaging comments about Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's wife, referring to the president's statements as 'ridiculous and disrespectful.'"

In an August 2024 interview with TMZ, Newsweek adds, "Kennedy described his endorsement of Trump as 'a really difficult issue' for his wife, stating: 'This is the opposite of what she would want to do. She went along with it because she loves me and she wanted to be supportive of me, but it was not something that she ever encouraged.'

"Kennedy had previously indicated the political tension in their relationship. Earlier in 2024, when asked if he would accept an offer to be Trump's running mate, Kennedy pointed to Hines and said: 'I don't think that my marriage would survive it,' to which Hines responded: 'I think he's right.'"

On X, the response was fast and furious, and pretty funny.
