Nicole Kidman Would Like to Check in to 'The White Lotus'
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 3 MIN.
Prolific actor Nicole Kidman has been in a number of TV series, from "Big Little Lies" to "Lioness" to "The Perfect Couple." But she's up for more – especially if it means a stay at "The White Lotus."
Kidman is just as active on the big screen as the small, starring in director Halina Reijn's erotic thriller "Babygirl" last year, opposite Antonio Banderas and Harris Dickinson.
Other projects in 2024 included the miniseries "Expats" and Richard LaGravenese's Netflix rom-com "A Family Affair."
Now she has a new feature to promote.
The busy thesp "touched down in Austin, Texas for the premiere of Mimi Cave's sophomore feature 'Holland,' co-starring Matthew Macfadyen and Gael García Bernal, at SXSW," IndieWire reported.
"The film follows Kidman as a paranoid teacher who suspects her husband (Macfadyen) of having an affair. She soon enlists her co-worker (Bernal) to help her discover the reality of what's going on in her perfect suburban life."
"Holland" streams on Prime Video starting March 27. But Kidman expressed a desire to appear in another small-screen project: Mike White's satirical, steamy anthology series "The White Lotus," which visits different locales of a luxury resort chain in every packed season.
IndieWire brought up the idea while interviewing Kidman, and the Aussie icon replied, "I'm a massive fan of Mike White, so I would do anything he writes, because I just think he's phenomenal."
"I love 'The White Lotus,'" Kidman added. "So there you go."
Perhaps the only startling thing about Kidman's response is her disclosure that she's not been asked to star on the series, which boasts a different roster of A-listers each season, with some key character crossovers to provide overall coherence. With her comments now out there, maybe that oversight will be corrected for Season 4 or beyond.
The current third season is now streaming on Max, with new episodes dropping weekly. This season is set in Thailand, where, as in previous seasons, wealthy guests and resort staff intersect in different ways, with a sexy Russian staffer (Arnas Fedaravičius) showing a trio of longtime female friends (Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, and Leslie Bibb) a good time while two brothers (Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola) – sons of a troubled businessman (Jason Isaacs) – seem to be skirting an incestuous relationship.
Elsewhere, irritable man of mystery Rick (Walton Goggins) seems to have some unpleasant business in mind for the resort's owner – if he can track the guy down, that is – and mild-mannered gate keeper Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) is so eager to prove himself worthy of his crush, Mook (Lisa), that he's willing to potentially put his life on the line for a promotion to bodyguard.
As with the previous seasons, this one begins with the introduction of a corpse. This time, it's heralded by gunfire that only barely misses Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), the son of White Lotus Hawaii staff member Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), who has come all this way to learn some new spa techniques, only to find herself at the crux of crime and romance as things between her and another staffer heat up. She recognizes another familiar face... one she suspects is up to no good.
Suspense, humor, sex, drama... casting Kidman in a season of "The White Lotus" seems like a match made in TV heaven!
