Heavenly Painting of Sam Smith Confuses at London's National Portrait Gallery

A heavenly looking painting of singer Sam Smith at the London's National Portrait Gallery is causing a commotion among art lovers.

As reported by BBC, Smith said it was "an honour" to be featured in the gallery. The work, titled Glory, is reportedly a part of the singer's personal collection.

Created by art duo Pierre Commoy and Gilles Blanchard, the work features Smith sitting pretty, wearing angel wings while playing a harp.

BBC reported that the portrait will also join portraits of singer Harry Styles, Pride In London co-founder Peter Tatchell and race campaigner Baroness Doreen Lawrence in the new History Makers gallery.

"I have admired the beautiful work of Pierre et Gilles for years, their incredible portraits of icons like Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Almond are truly iconic, and to sit for them was a dream come true," said Smith. "I was so happy when the National Portrait Gallery asked me if they could loan the piece."

They added, "It's very important to me to support the arts. Being in their new History Makers section is an honour."

However, not all art fans are convinced, reported The Daily Mail.

On X, one social media user commented: "The National Portrait Gallery sure has sunk to a new low," posted one X user.

Another added, "Why would it be displayed there?"

Despite the critiques, "Sam looks so Cute🩵x" wrote another commentator.
