Watch: Gaga Shines in New 'Joker' Trailer

Lady Gaga shines as Harley Quinn in the second trailer Todd Phillips' sequel to "The Joker."

"Folie a Deux" traces the origins of what might be the baddest romance of all as The Clown Prince of Crime catches the eye of Gaga's unflappable villain.

Set two years after Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) went on his rampage as the Joker, the $200 million followup – which launches in theaters Oct. 4 – reportedly features musical elements.

When the Joker goes on trial for his crimes, he catches the eye of his fellow inmate at Arkham Asylum – and the manic sparks are evident from the first, as the pair leave flaming pianos, mob violence in the streets, and big dance numbers in their wake.

An earlier trailer dropped in April, packed with movie musical moments (a spotlight shining down, Fleck walking in the rain as the black umbrellas of his minders suddenly become vibrant with color, the lovers doing dance numbers that include a set piece in a romantic rooftop setting), all to the strains of a lushly orchestra rendition of "What the World Needs Now."

By contrast, the new trailer unfolds to Frank Sinatra's "When You're Smiling," an apt choice given the Joker's trademark rictus of a grin.
