Finally, Abraham Lincoln's long-speculated gayness is being explored in the upcoming documentary "Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln," and it sounds like history buffs and die-hard Honest Abe fans will be treated to some juicy tidbits about the president's private life.

According to the documentary's official synopsis, "Lover of Men" will examine the "intimate life of America's most consequential president, Abraham Lincoln." This includes life before and leading up to his presidency, reports People magazine.

"As told by preeminent Lincoln scholars and never before seen photographs and letters, the film details Lincoln's romantic relationships with men," the Synopsis continues. Scholars, hisotrians and experts on Lincoln's life will provide the context to shed light on Lincoln's status as a near mythical figure in American history.

"Years in the making...my passion project has come to life," wrote filmmaker and director Shaun Peterson about the project.

As the synopsis promises, the film "fills in an important missing piece of American history and challenges the audience to consider why we hold such a limited view of human sexuality."

The film will also put into context "profound differences between sexual mores of the nineteenth century and those we hold today."

And with Cole Escola's Broadway hit "Oh, Mary!" giving a comedic twist on Lincoln's relationship with wife Mary Todd, it seems its the perfect season for learning a little more about Lincoln.

Look for "Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln" soon in theaters nationwide. Until then, watch the trailer the trailer below.
