The trailer for the eighth and final season of Netflix's "Élite" has dropped, and a death brings up lots of questions at the fictional high school.

According to the season synopsis, siblings Emilia and Héctor Krawietz, who are the leaders of Las Encinas alumni association, cause a commotion throughout the school and ruin many lives in the process, Deadline reports. Omar is intent on taking them down because they represent everything wrong in Las Encinas, but will his determination take him to the point of no return?

Per usual, lots of twists and turns are in store, which is why the show, created by Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca, has become Netflix's longest running Spanish series. Season 8 stars Omar Ayuso, André Lamoglia, Valentina Zenere, Mirela Balić, Gleb Abrosimov, Fernando Líndez, Nadia Al Saidi, Ander Puig, Carmen Arrufat, Mina el Hammani, Iván Mendes, and Maribel Verdú. Newcomers include Ane Rot, Nuno Gallego, Alexandra Pino, and Mario Ermito, among others.

According to Montero, who confirmed that Season 8 would be the show's last in October 2023, the plan is for the show to go out on top.

"We ended on a high note," said Montero. "Jaime [Vaca, co-showrunner for Season 7], Netflix, and I thought it was time to end it. I say this with great regret, because it's been several incredible years in which I've met wonderful actors, we've worked with all the directors we wanted to work with, and we've had the luxury of having Maribel these last two seasons."

He added, "'Élite' changed everyone's life, there are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to be now world stars, it is happening to this cast and it is a pride to have contributed to that and to know that they have seen us all over the world and liked it."

One breakout star from the show includes Manu Rios, who has now gone on to star in Pedro Almodóvar's "Strange Way of Life" alongside TV zaddy Pedro Pascal.

As sad as we are that the show is coming to an end, we can't wait to see what the stars will get up to next.
