SOPHIE Is Releasing a Posthumous Album Later This Year

SOHPIE, the dearly departed experimental pop artist, will take her final bow in a posthumous album release this year, reported BBC. It will be released September 27.
In an announcement Monday, her family revealed that an album, drawn from material she completed before her death, will be "lovingly finalized by those who hold her closest." The album was worked on by her brother and collaborator Ben Long.
According to Long, the musician had "literally hundreds of tracks" in her vault, and he wants to do right by his sister by releasing only what she would have wanted release. About putting the project together, Long shared that the plan isn't to release everything.
"I don't want to be like, 'We're going to put everything out,' because sometimes Sophie didn't want it to or it wasn't finished," said Long. "But it was quite clear with a lot of songs, just from the fact that we had been working on them and mixing the album, that I know the direction a lot of things were supposed to be going."
With the announcement of SOPHIE's final album, the track "Reason Why" was also released, featuring vocals from Kim Petras and BC Kingdom.
Becoming one of the most in-demand pop producers before her death, SOPHIE died at age 34 in Athens, Greece, after reportedly suffering a fall while watching a full moon.
"SOPHIE didn't often speak publicly of her private life, preferring to put everything she wanted to articulate in her music," said her family in a statement. "It feels only right to share with the world the music she hoped to release, in the belief that we can all connect with her in this, the form she loved most."
They added, "Sophie gave all of herself to her music. It's here that she can always be found."
