'Love After Lockup' Reality Stars Monique and Derek Discuss Drama-Filled Season

"Love After Lockup" reality stars Monique Robinson and Derek Warner insist their relationship is genuine despite what some fans think. Much of the disbelief is based on appearance, with Robinson physically being much bigger than Warner.

"I never understood why people would think we're not a real couple. We were together two years before 'Love After Lockup' even came about," said Robinson. "So, yeah, that was kind of crazy to me."

The popular WE TV reality show follows the relationships of ex-cons after they've been released from prison. Its sister show, "Love During Lockup," follows the relationships when one of pair are currently incarcerated.

The couple are arguably the fan favorites this season–mainly due to the questions about the relationship, along with a continuous relationship Monique has with Derek's sisters.

"The dynamics of our relationship is really out there, but it's not on TV. Me being incarcerated, whether it's that or me being shorter than Monique, her being taller than me, her physical appearance, my physical appearance, the lifestyle I once lived–you know, the story is out there, but it hasn't been on TV yet," said Warner. "And people that I've talked to in public, that they'll come and be like, 'Me and my girlfriend go through the same thing.'"

The couple has also dealt with Warner's infidelity, which has been a huge storyline this season. But he insists that it's all in the past, and they are doing better.

"We're happy, I'm doing better. Been faithful. You know, she has a big smile on her face," said Warner. "I'm growing up in real life. I'm growing up on TV. Monique's helping me, I'm helping her on this journey of love."

"Love During Lockup" airs Friday nights on WE TV.
