READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Jared Leto might be the last person in Hollywood to learn of the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor took to social media Tuesday to alert fans that he just learned about the widespread outbreak of COVID-19. On Twitter, the "Dallas Buyers Club" star explained that he had been in a "silent meditation in the desert" for the lat 12 days.

"We were totally isolated," he wrote. "No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility.

"Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that's been changed forever," Leto, 48, went on to tweet. "Mind blowing - to say the least. I'm getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what's going on.

"Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all," the Oscar winner said. "Stay inside. Stay safe."

As of this writing, the C.D.C. reports there have been nearly 3,500 cases of COVID-19 in the United States and 68 deaths.
