In "Sandra Monica Blvd: Coast to Coast," Bernhard is traversing the country taking audiences on a journey to find the soul of America... the back roads and the byways on a gas station map while weaving in the soundtrack you might hear on an AM radio station you pick up from Oklahoma.
Speaking about her inspiration for the material, Bernhard told EDGE, "I have many times traversed this great country of ours, the southern route, right through the Midwest and even north. I have seen pristine waters, arid deserts, snowcapped mountain peaks, trailer parks, truck stops, a thousand gas stations, wheat fields, apple orchards, silos filled to the brim, cows resting, goats, sheep, llamas trotting along, children exiting school buses, economy hotels and private airstrips, barbecue joints and burger stands, faded confederate flags limply adorning the windows of back road shacks, bright lights shining on football fields. I've seen America and she has seen me. There are always surprises though, no matter how many miles you cover."
She takes you to all the places you forgot but longed to remember in the muted colors of dreamy landscapes. "Sandra Monica Blvd: Coast to Coast" is her latest wild ride. After The Sorting Room shows, Bernhard is heading East on Route 66 to bring "Sandra Monica Blvd: Coast to Coast" back to New York City, from one coast to the other, for her annual holiday shows at Joe's Pub from December 26-31.
Bernhard is also now going into her second year hosting her own hugely popular daily show Sandyland on SiriusXM Radio's Radio Andy channel (102) headed up by Andy Cohen. Her strong opinions and unique perspective, along with her provocative, spontaneous conversations with a wide spectrum of guests from the worlds of entertainment and fashion have made Sandyland so successful.
Launching the new show in Los Angeles and New York City, Bernhard will then perform throughout the New Year at all points in between.
Said Bernhard: "There will continue to be amazing guests, rocking music, spontaneous outbursts, interviews on the M train, but above all, smart conversations... that really is the trademark of Sandyland!"
