Broadway and Ballet HERO Awards Set for October 26 in NYC

The worlds of classical dance and musical theater will collide once again in New York, at The Second Annual Broadway and Ballet HERO Awards, benefiting the HIV Experience Resources Organization (HERO). The event, which takes place on Monday, October 26 at 8 p.m., will be held at Stage 48 (605 West 48th St.).

The evening, which will feature 14 original dances by a talented ensemble of dancers from numerous Broadway shows, American Ballet Theatre, as well as a duet by legendary dance master Lar Lubovitch, will also feature a performance by Tony Award-winner Melba Moore. The event, which is hosted by National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce VP of External Affairs Jonathan Lovitz, will be directed by Mark Robinson.

The HERO Awards, which are presented in partnership with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, are given to those organizations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to help the HIV/AIDS community. This year's recipients will be Melba Moore, and dancer Garen Price Scribner from the cast of Broadway's "An American in Paris." GMHC will receive the HERO Partner Award.
