Only in Florida: Man Says He Masturbated at Beach Because He Misses GF

He was not the king of his sandcastle.

A man who was arrested for masturbating on a beach in Florida this week says he was publicly pleasuring himself because he missed his girlfriend, the Smoking Gun reports.

Police caught Byron Christianoudis, 44, in the alleged lewd act around 6 p.m. Wednesday. Christianoudis apologized to authorities and explained he was masturbating because his girlfriend isn't around.

"My girlfriend was out of town and I miss her," he said, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Smoking Gun.

Christianoudis, who resides in Sarasota, Fla., was "sitting in the sand near the sand dunes" when officer Darin Rath of the Indian Shores Police Department approached him from behind. The cop was watching Christianoudis "rubbing his genital area (masturbating)."

While carrying out the lewd act, Christianoudis was allegedly "watching an adult female and a minor female child walking down the water's edge," Rath said. Christianoudis "made a spontaneous statement and apologized for his actions" after Rath confronted him. That's when Christianoudis told the cop he missed his girlfriend.

Despite the heartache he was feeling at the time, Christianoudis was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior, a misdemeanor. He was placed into the county jail and was held on a $250 bond.
