The Chanler at Cliff Walk is a vintage Newport mansion turned luxury boutique hotel. Both family- and female-owned, the intimate seaside hideaway boasts undeniable Gilded Age glamor and features 20 beautiful, uniquely designed guestrooms that pay homage to the hotel's storied past. A stay at The Chanler promises nothing short of opulence, with newly enhanced wellness amenities including en-suite massages and customizable aromatherapy bath menus that complement an already robust array of suite fixtures such as deep soaking bathtubs, nightly bedtime stories, and cozy fireplaces; indulgent destination dining with surprise menu options from the fine-dining restaurant Cara and a cocktail and caviar haven found at The Living Room; incomparable access to Newport and all of its iconic sites through curated experiences including a Private Newport Expedition with The Chanler's Private Guide Jeffrey Clark, private charter experiences in Narragansett Bay, complimentary fitness passes to the International Tennis Hall of Fame fitness center, seasonal use of Tokyo-style bikes to cruise the town in style, and Cadillac house car chauffeur service around Newport; seasonal delights that range from a decadent Hot Chocolate Bar in the winter to the Ca' del Bosco Wine Garden in the summer; unrivaled service and attention to detail, and
The Chanler at Cliff Walk is, without question, one of the most exceptional boutique properties in Newport, Rhode Island. From the moment you arrive, the experience feels both intimate and elevated. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and highly professional, striking the right balance between warm hospitality and refined service. The property itself is exquisitely maintained, with beautifully appointed rooms that reflect distinct historical periods while still providing modern comfort. Waking up to ocean views along the Cliff Walk is an experience in itself—quiet, serene, and unforgettable.
The location is ideal, situated directly on the iconic Cliff Walk and offering immediate access to some of Newport’s most renowned attractions. The Breakers and Marble House are just a short and scenic stroll away. Touring these two spectacular Gilded Age mansions added depth and historical context to our stay, and returning to the Chanler afterward felt like stepping back into a more personal and luxurious version of that era.
Remy’s Loose is a dining experience that exceeded expectations, with excellent cuisine and thoughtful presentation that matched the overall experience. Executive Chef Jacob Jasinski will blow your tastebuds away with his French cuisine with Rhode Island influences.

Newport has many amazing restaurants. White Horse Tavern, which has been serving locals and visitors for over 350 years, and The Mooring serve delicious seafood with their prime harbor views. Our favorite place to dine was at Perro Salado. This upscale Mexican restaurant is the place to eat in Newport. The margaritas are amazing. The avocado fries and the sticky ribs are worth the drive from anywhere.
For a change of pace, we visited the Newport Car Museum , which offered an engaging and unexpected highlight. The museum’s collection is meticulously curated, spanning decades of automotive design and performance. It was a perfect complement to the mansions' historic elegance, providing a refreshing modern contrast during our trip.
Overall, the Chanler At Cliff Walk stands out as a premier destination for anyone seeking luxury accommodations, exceptional service, and convenient access to Newport’s most compelling attractions. It delivers both a sense of escapism and a deep connection to the history and culture that define Newport. Highly recommended.
