Right Wing Pundit: Westerners are Fleeing to Russia to Escape Gay Rights

Someone has "mommy issues."
The apple continued its journey miles away from the tree today when William Murray, the Tea Party activist and son of American Atheists founder Madalyn Murray O'Hair, asserted in an opinion piece published on WorldNetDaily.com that there is an exodus of westerners moving to Russia to flee the tyranny of gay rights.
Murray joins the ever-growing list of religious right notables that include Billy Graham's son Rev. Franklin Graham, Pat Buchanan and Scott Lively who support the anti-gay policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Right Wing Watch reports.
In an opinion piece published on right wing "news" outlet World Net Daily, titled "Full Circle: The Russian Embassy and My Marxist Mom," Murray took aim at NATO and the United States for "antagonizing" Russia and supporting gay rights.
"Having been a part of the decline in religion and morality that has come to America, I now look at Russia where individual achievement is honored and prayer and Bible instruction are welcomed in the classrooms," he writes. "Recently, the 'gay' rainbow flag was hoisted at the American Embassy in Israel. At the Olympic Games at Sochi this year, it was Russia who was vilified by Western media for not being gay-friendly. A real turnaround from the 1960s for America. When my mother filed the lawsuit to remove prayer and Bible reading from America's schools in 1960, the churches were full and the nation was at near full employment. Homosexual relations were considered unnatural by 90 percent of the people."
Right Wing Watch further reports Murray appears convinced that there is an exodus of westerners fleeing to Russia: "Westerners are seeking Russian citizenship, but not to support Marxism. This time Westerners are fleeing the godless collectivism sought by my mother, the system that is fast becoming the new American norm."
Today's comments are par for the course for Murray, who in a 2009 column for World Net Daily pinned the blame on the 2008 crash of a Metrolink commuter train with a Union Pacific freight train that killed 25 people on the fact that the engineer was gay.
Murray is son of Madalyn Murray O'Hair, founder of the American Atheists. According to Wikipedia, O'Hair was best known for the "Murray v. Curlett" lawsuit, which led to a landmark Supreme Court ruling ending official Bible-reading in American public schools in 1963. This came just one year after the Supreme Court prohibited officially sponsored prayer in schools in "Engel v. Vitale."
After she founded the American Atheists and won Murray v. Curlett, she achieved attention to the extent that in 1964 Life magazine referred to her as "the most hated woman in America"
