Anti-Gay DC Lobbyist: 'Don't Use Your Visa To Buy A Michael Sam Jersey'

Ahab had Moby Dick, Javert had Jean Valjean, and Jack Burkman has Michael Sam.

Like a misbehaved child who can't seem to get enough of the "time out chair," Jack Burkman's continued ridiculous anti-gay behavior has yet again put him in the spotlight. This week, Burkman, the self-proclaimed "powerful" DC Lobbyist, is making good on his promise to launch a boycott any entity that hired openly gay football player, Michael Sam.

Currently, the targets in the crosshairs of Burkman's impotent rifle are the St. Louis Rams and Visa. The former drafted Sam to play on their team. The latter offered him an endorsement deal.

In a press release sent out by Burkman's publicists, the lobbyist says that he unleashedpowerful grassroots organizations he claims to have assembledin 27 of the 50 stateswhich willlead the boycott efforts. And he further purports to havemobilizeda coalition of evangelical Christian leaders from across the nation to join the boycott.

"Visa and the Ramswill learn that when you trample the Christian community and Christian values, there will be a terrible financial price to pay," says Burkman. "Openly gay football playerssend a terrible message to our youth about morality. Somebody needs to step up because the moral fiber of the nation is eroding."

In the boycott he's leading against Visa, Burkman says he is urging the public to sell Visa stock they may ownand to stop usingVisa cards.

Burkman says he is also urging Rams fans tonot buy team merchandise and is calling on season ticket holders to stay away from games.

While it is unclear whether Wednesday's slight price dip in Visa stock is related to Burkman's boycott, his rally to fans to steer clear of Rams merchandise has apparently fallen on deaf ears. Since his draft by the Rams last weekend, Sam's jersey is the second best selling rookie shirt being sold on NFL.com.

A previously reported by EDGE, Burkman has also announced his proposal for "The American Decency Act of 2014," a bill that "would prohibit NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL teams from employing "self-declared homosexual athletes."
