Glamor, Dresses and Hot Messes at the Crown

EDGE READ TIME: 3 MIN.

The month of may starts a season of high energy and high camp at the Crown and Anchor.

The classic Las Vegas style "Illusions Drag Revue" featuring four of America's top female impersonators, begins its run on Saturday May 17th. Felicity Layne, Billie Jean, Tisch DeWilliams and Anita Cocktail fill the Crown Cabaret with glamour, skin & original sin.

Both Miss Richfield 1981 and Kate Clinton start their runs on Saturday May 24th.

A beauty pageant titleholder must be single. But Miss Richfield's clock is ticking. So she's on the prowl to find Mr. Right...now! In her all new show "Play With My Poodle," Miss R joyously looks for a suitable mate with colorful videos, twisted sing-a-longs, and a healthy heap of audience interaction.

But if you're feeling like an anti-social network. Like you've done every one on HeyStupid. You will laugh out loud for real with Kate Clinton. She is the broad in broadband. She's where sane and zane meet.

Provincetown's most beloved piano man, Bobby Wetherbee, is in the Central House piano bar beginning his summer run on Friday May 24th, where he'll dazzle you with his non-stop repetoire of classics, old and new.

Not to mention Dina Martina will be pulling out all the stops by "singing" her most hilarious songs, telling her best jokes, wearing her best "fashions" and showing her most amazing videos beginning Friday May 30th.

But the act that is sure to astound is you!

Can you dance? Can you sing? Can you tease an audience? Anyone with a talent -- or a delusion -- can compete to win the weekly cash prize of $500 awarded to the audience's favorite performer of the night.

Legendary performer Kevin Aviance and drag superstar Marti Gould Cummings have descended upon Provincetown to host "Audition", a new weekly talent and variety show for the Cape's most talented (and sometimes deliciously talentless) acts.

In the words of Kevin Aviance, "Are you ready to werk?" Come be part of Provincetown's newest must-see spectacle! Every Tuesday night at Paramount, May 20 to Sept. 2. Doors at 9:30 p.m., show at 10 p.m.

Hosts Kevin Aviance and Marti Gould Cummings have transformed the traditional talent show format into a saucy, all-inclusive mashup of a certain drag race hosted by RuPaul, the camp perfection of Cabaret, and '80s New York "ball culture" -- all with unmistakable Provincetown glitter and flair.

The show marks the Provincetown debut for both Kevin Aviance and Marti Gould Cummings. Aviance, who is returning to the stage after several years away from the spotlight, has five #1 Billboard dance singles, including 2004's "Give It Up". He's also a self-proclaimed "kiki extraordinaire," a talent he's quick to unleash on the Provincetown audiences as needed.

Aviance's on-stage counterpart is the always-effervescent Marti Gould Cummings. The self-described "comedian and boy in a dress" has sashayed her way from the sticks of West Virginia all the way to the new New York stage, where she performs at the acclaimed off-Broadway venue New World Stages and the nightclubs Industry, Barracuda, and The Ritz. In a twisted, but oh-so appropriate compliment, Michael Musto himself baptized Marti "the love child of Liza Minnelli and Johnny Weir."

Be sure to check back throughout the summer, as a host of nationally renowned performers will make special guest appearances on the "Audition" stage.
