Gaga's New Bad Romance/J.Lo's Latest Love!

It would not be outside of bounds to suggest that perhaps Lady Gaga give up dating - at least for a little while. Not having attachments is much more suitable to her rock star lifestyle. I base my suggestion on her latest single "Judas", the second track from her upcoming new album "Born This Way" (set for release on May 23). It seems that our girl just can't get a break! The track is her unflappable declaration to a lover who has not once but thrice betrayed her, and she's still in love with him!

And even though "Darkness forgave his crooked way" she admits she's still a "Holy Fool for Judas". Gaga promises she's learned from her mistake, especially falling for this king with no crown, but she's going to break him down...break him down...down. Take a page from your own first bad romance darling Gaga: another go around is not the answer! We're starting to detect a pattern, and we're worried - but there's no denying the single rocks.

Sonically the song particularly stands out from the more dance-friendly "Born This Way" which is still showing legs on radio and clubs everywhere. "Judas" by comparison rages and romps like an 80's Euro-pop track - it even swims with hypnotic techno-beats that evoke some of the UK's synth-pop Bronski Beat's vibe...and we like that! The hard-hitting percussion feels more mosh-pit than club floor, but that's all good...especially since it works to demonstrate the versatility Gaga is consistently evolving as a musical artist, willing her song writing to dip into obscure sounds and base rhythms that move her followers transcendentally!

Fools For Love

"Judas" feels exploratory as if Gaga is scratching at an undeveloped downtown punk persona, and is still accessible enough to remain indicatively Gaga - interesting music that keeps us hungry for more! In context the song may help to formulate a sense of what we can expect from her the overall concept of "Born This Way". She has reported that the songs all work along a thread. And that it will be a dance/punk/rock infusion that is inspired by 80's pop. Her label reps have dared to compare it in scope to Michael Jackson's "Thriller". That's a big ambitious, but "Thriller" was Jackson's second full-length album after his "Off The Wall" solo debut. Parallels anyone?

I don't know if "Judas" will be one of the more memorable tracks coming from Lady Gaga. After a couple of plays it can feel like the lyrics don't congeal or make much sense - yes...there's a story there, but we've been there already. Only time will tell if it'll be a "skip" on your iPod, but for now it comfortably sits on the charts as her latest top 10 hit on iTunes, proving we're all still in love with Gaga.

Dance the Night Away!

Speaking of "love", Jennifer "La" Lopez is squirming with delight as her new album "Love?" prepares to drop. The recently released "Papi" is a return to Lopez dance days, much evoking the rolling thunder of "Waiting For Tonight". This uncontrollably infectious track produced by RedOne begs you to "rock your body and dance for your Papi"! And it just keeps going from there.

No doubt this has been an incredibly super-charged year for the star who has proven a triple threat championing Hollywood A-List status, dancing her way into history as a Fly Girl and establishing her street-credibility when she moved into music. Although when Jenny hit the block, legitimate musical success eluded her if on the fringes...and there was that slip-up at the "American Music Awards". How can we forget that?

But with the winning center seat on this year's season of "American Idol" it looks like the country has embraced this Latin Lady and giving her lots of love! And what's she got for us? A whole lot of reason to share what our mommas gave us!

After "On The Floor" her new album's first single, a club-thumper with Miami rapper Pitbull in the ring, there was no where to go but up, and with "Papi" Jennifer is proving that love, the second time around, is so very worth starting over. "Papi" along with the rest of "Love?" feels like falling in love for the first time. Yes, if Jennifer were a virgin this "Papi" would have very appropriately popped her cherry!

With these two tracks ringing in the season you can expect this will be a summer of wildly powerful anthems! Stay tuned!

Lady Gaga's "Judas" from her upcoming album "Born This Way" and Jennifer Lopez's "Papi" from "Love?" are both now available for digital download everywhere including iTunes.
