Watch: Netflix Renews 'Bridgerton,' Says Actor Jonathan Bailey will 'Dominate' Second Season

Surprising no one, Netflix announced Thursday that its renewing its sexy period drama "Bridgerton" for a second season. The announcement came via a fun letter written by the character Lady Whistledown.

The note also says Jonathan Bailey's character Lord Anthony will "dominate the social season."

"Gentle reader, before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time," reads Whistledown's letter. "Patience, after all, is a virtue."

Variety writes Season 1 "focused on Daphne Bridgerton's (Phoebe Dynevor) debut on the marriage market and her explosive courtship with committed bachelor, the Duke of Hastings (played by Regé-Jean Page).

Netflix also shared a video announcing the second season.

"Bridgeton," co-produced by Shonda Rhimes, has become a viral hit for Netflix and it was recently reported the streamier was having trouble keeping up with removing the show's sex scenes from porn sites. Bailey, too, has become a sensation and after the show came under fire for queer baiting, he talked about gay people playing gay characters. Click here to read more about that. Additionally, the show's breakout star Regé-Jean Page, who plays the sexy Duke of Hastings, is in talks to play the new James Bond.
