Dad Cuts off America’s Most Famous Lesbian Heiress
The lesbian daughter of Yahoo!'s former CEO has been left out in the cold now that her rich father has pulled the plug on her trust fund, leading to laments and media derison.
A New York Post headline referred to Courtenay Semel as an "heirhead," with the accompanying article citing her complaints to the media about her lack of funds now that her father, Terry Semel, has cut off her access to her trust fund money.
The article said that Ms. Semel, a reality TV personality who reportedly went out with Linday Lohan and now is said to be dating Tila Tequila, told the newspaper The Post, "My family cut me off."
Semel, who appeared in the program "Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive" on E! went on to say, "I don't want to be known for all this craziness in my life."
Semel, 29, spoke out on how her wild party-girl life had affected her family and friendships.
"It's ruined a lot of friendships and relationships with my friends and my family, most important," said Semel.
"I haven't been in contact with my family, and the only way they know what's going on with me is Page Six," the Post quoted her as saying.
Various media, including Valleywag.com, recounted how Semel got into trouble in Las Vegas in 2008 when she angrily demanded that a club bouncer named Jaroslaw Jarczok "Google me."
Jeered Valleywag.com, "You would think, if she had any respect for Daddy whatsoever, she'd have told Jarczok to search for her name on Yahoo."
Semel reportedly added, "I'm not used to the word 'no.'"
Looking back, Semel told the Post, "I'm sitting in a jail in the basement of Caesars Palace, with these guards yelling in my face."
Recounted Semel, "It led me to a rock bottom, which I'm in now."
The article said that the charges against Semel were dropped, but that Jarczok is now pursuing a lawsuit against her.
Lamented Semel, "I literally have been in a downward spiral since all this has happened.
"I lost my family, I've been cut off."
The Post story went on to quote Semel as saying, "I just never thought about how to put gas in my car or food on the table."
Added Semel, "I was fully supported, I wasn't worried."
One infamous bit of mischief Semel denied: she says that, contrary to reports, she did not set her ex-girlfriend's hair alight.
Said Semel of the legend that had her setting Casey Johnson's hair in flames, "I don't keep a blowtorch by my nightstand, you know what I mean?"
The Post article said that Semel is now looking to regain her financial solvency with a new reality show bid.
The Post quoted Semel as saying, "My only shot right now is my show.
"I need to start over and show everyone who I really am."
Saying she wanted to emulate her father, Semel said, "I can be a mogul," the Post recounted.
