When Luke Evans isn't working — which he's been doing a lot lately — he's likely in the gym, sharing thirst traps on Instagram. And when he did this past Monday, he evoked another actor famously known for his workout pics back in the day: bodybuilder-turned-actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The out 42-year-old star has been working out at home lately, but he recently made a gym comeback this week. "His impressive gains are on full display in his most recent 'Monday motivation' post on social media, in which he shows off the considerable pump he got from his arm day workout, flexing in an Arnold Schwarzenegger-esque classic bodybuilding pose," noted Men's Health, to which we completely concur.

"All pumped up... Deflated now," Evans quipped in the post's caption.

The photo comes in conjunction with Hulu's recent announcement that the new mini-series, "Nine Perfect Strangers," which sees Evans in the role of a gay lawyer, will premiere on August 18. He recently completed shooting the series in Australia.

As People magazine described the show: "'Nine Perfect Strangers' follows a group of individuals who visit a boutique health-and-wellness resort for a 10-day retreat that aims to heal and transform them. But the nine visitors have no idea what's coming their way."

Alongside Evans, the eight-episode miniseries, created by David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth, stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone, and Manny Jacinto.

The series is adapted from Liane Moriarty's bestselling book of the same name. Her bestselling novel, "Big Little Lies," was previously adapted into an award-winning HBO series that also starred Kidman.

In an interview, Evans said it was "nice" to portray a gay character on screen for the first time. "It was a lovely character to delve into and to calibrate and deliver this complex person. But, yes, it was nice to play a gay character after all these years of doing roles on stage and screen," EDGE reported him as saying in March.

As the British LGBTQ magazine Instinct pointed out, Evans has been working out to prepare for his role in the upcoming Disney prequel to "Beauty and the Beast," entitled "The Little Town," in which he will again co-star alongside Emma Watson. In the 2017 live-action adaptation of the classic animated movie, Evans played Gaston, the boorish rival for Belle's affections. "Evans has been hard at work transforming his already muscular physique for the role, and luckily for us, he has been documenting his transformation," notes Instinct.

"The Disney+ series 'The Little Town' will follow the brawny villain and his sidekick LeFou (played by Josh Gad) in the years before he meets Belle. To prepare for the role Evans hopes to be in peak shape. For that reason he has amped up and intensified his workouts."

He has also been cast in the latest string of Disney live-action reboots, such as the Coachman in "Pinocchio," and is also rumored to be on the shortlist to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.

In his personal life, Evans has been dating a number of men since breaking up with his most recent boyfriend, former footballer Rafael Olarra, in January.
