Dwyane Wade, recent NBA retiree and father of two, fired back at what he called "post-Thanksgiving hate" on social media Saturday. Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union posted a family photo of them with their two kids and received some unkind messages about their son, Zion's, attire and nails. He sported white painted nails and a short shirt, which were both the target of internet trolls.

In response, instead of fighting fire with fire, Wade tweeted a message of love and acceptance which was widely read with approving eyes, according to CNN.

"I've seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so i get it. But here's the thing—I've been chosen to lead my family not y'all," Wade wrote.

"So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!"

This is not the first time Wade and his family have stood up for inclusivity and pride, however.

"Earlier this year, Wade posted a picture of Zion and Union at Miami Beach Pride Parade, captioning it: 'We support each other with Pride,'" CNN reported.

"I truly hope that everyone gets the love, support and hugs they deserve," Union posted on social media in October.

Happy holidays, everyone. Here's for heeding Wade's wise words this season.
