EDGE Publications Launches Miami and Fort Lauderdale Gay News and Entertainment Portals

For Immediate Release Mar 8, 2007

Miami, FL - EDGE Publications, Inc. today announced the official launch of and, the media network's seventh and eighth major online publications.

The two new portals are devoted to serving the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender community of Southern Florida. Each portal delivers eight major channels of information to its readers, including daily news, business, weather, entertainment, health, style, sports and travel. Additional channels provide coverage of nightlife, shopping, lodging, dining, plus a local business directory and calendar of events.

The sites join a family of market-leading online publications currently serving more than 600,000 readers in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Providence, Provincetown and greater New England.

"Our expansion to South Florida is groundbreaking for EDGE," said Publisher David Foucher. "It begins our transformation from a regional network of market-leading websites to a national brand. And it proves that communities thousands of miles apart find value in leveraging that brand to learn about and communicate with each other."

Miami represents a vibrant new readership for EDGE; the company has named veteran journalist Kareem Tabsch as Editor-in-Chief for the new site.

"Miami is such an amazing city, so alive with rich Latino flavor and an eclectic gay community," said Tabsch. "It's a premiere vacation destination and a beautiful place to live. I'm really thrilled to be part of this new portal."

"Our city has a proud history of welcoming and supporting the GLBT community," remarked City of Miami Beach Mayor David Dermer, "and we are pleased that EDGE has recognized that in their new publication."

Barely an hour north, Fort Lauderdale has enjoyed a more recent popularity with gays and lesbians.

"People travel back and forth between the two cities all the time," explains Ft. Lauderdale Editor-in-Chief Lisa Cohen. "Fort Lauderdale is really becoming a major destination for the GLBT community. Here at EDGE we're really excited to grow with it."
