Fiore Barbini Says 'I'm Still Here' in NYC Cabaret Debut

A familiar face with an unfamiliar name will be making his cabaret debut in New York City.

On November 3, triple-threat Fiore Barbini will hit the boards of 53 Above Broadway in "I'm Still Here. My Story: the Songs of Leading Ladies," an evening of some of the Broadway songbook's most iconic numbers made famous by the women who introduced them.

The evening, which is being presented by New York City cabaret scene mainstay Joseph Macchia with musical direction by Yasuhiko Fukuoka, will cover Barbini's career in show business with his own twist. Among the songs planned for Barbini's musical gender-twist are: "I'm Still Here" from "Follies," "Meadowlark" from "The Baker's Wife" as well as a medley of songs from "Miss Saigon," "Jekyll & Hyde" and "Les Miserables"

As an actor, singer and dancer, Barbini has toured with "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "A Chorus Line." His extensive regional credits include "The Full Monty," "Sunday in the Park with George," "Singing in the Rain," "Damn Yankees," "George M!," "Funny Girl," "Hello Dolly!"

However, fans of a certain genre may recognize him as gay adult star Hugh Hunter. And while Barbini says that the subject of his alter-ego will be covered with a special medley dedicated to that persona, the evening will celebrate his return to musical theater and cabaret. At 42, Barbini is back in New York City and ready to get back to the boards. Because in his own words (by way of Sondheim): "I'm still here."

Fiore Barbini's "I'm Still Here. My Story: The Songs of Leading Ladies" will play Friday night November 3, at 6:30 p.m. at 53 Above Broadway (318 West 53rd Street). There is a $15 cover charge and two drink minimum.
