Ryan Murphy has cast the actor who will play Hollywood icon Rock Hudson in an upcoming Netflix TV show aptly called "Hollywood."

Not much is known about the show, other than it's being called "a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown" and believed to be set in the 40s, Deadline reports, which adds that actor Jake Picking will play Hudson, who came out as gay later in life and died from an AIDS-related illness in 1985.

Picking, 28, has appeared in a handful of Hollywood movies, including the Robert De Niro starrer "Dirty Grandpa," the homoerotic drama "Goat," and the comedy "Blockers." He'll also appear in the 2020 sequel "Top Gun: Maverick."

It was recently announced that "The Politician" actor David Corenswet will star in "Hollywood," playing an unknown lead role. The other two principal leads are "American Crime Story" star Darren Criss and Tony Award nominee Jeremy Pope.

As most Murphy projects, "Hollywood" has a number of big names, including "American Horror Story" actor Dylan McDermott, "Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons, "Euphoria" actress Maude Apatow, "Ready or Not" star Samara Weaving, Broadway fixture Joe Mantello, and "Blackkklansman" actress Laura Harrier.

"Hollywood" will be the third Netflix series from Murphy, following "The Politician" and "Ratched," starring Sarah Paulson as the character Nurse Ratched" from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
