Ryan Murphy has been with Netflix for less than a year but his newest project is huge: After revealing he'd be directing and producing a film version of the Broadway hit LGBTQ musical "The Prom," Deadline is reporting Murphy has secured a wild cast.

Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Ariana Grande and James Corden will star in Murphy's project alongside Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key and Andrew Rannells. Deadline notes Murphy will start filming the movie this December for a fall 2020 release — just in time for awards season.

Deadline also breaks down the roles of the cast:

In "Prom," Streep will play Dee Dee Allen, a two-time Tony winner who teams with Corden's Barry Glickman in a flop musical about Eleanor Roosevelt. After career-ending reviews, they decide — along with Broadway babies Kidman as Angie Dickinson and Rannells ("Book of Mormon") as Trent Oliver — to champion a cause to rehabilitate their careers. They find one in Emma, a high school senior in Indiana who isn't allowed to take her girlfriend to the prom. A nationwide search led by casting director Alexa Fogel is on to fill the role of Emma.

Grande will play Alyssa, the popular daughter of the head of the PTA. Awkwafina will play the group's publicist Ms. Sheldon and Key will star as Streep's love interest and Emma's ally Principal Hawkins, Deadline reports.

Murphy has a number of projects in the pipeline at Netflix, including a comedy series called "The Politician" that stars "Dear Even Hansen" actor Ben Platt. He also has a remake of seminal gay film/play "The Boys in the Band," which will be directed by Joe Mantello.
