Boston Comic Con Celebrates 10 Years This Weekend

Boston Comic Con celebrates its 10th anniversary this year as the comic show "true to comics, committed to fans," in a new location to accommodate the ever-growing audience that wants to experience the best in comic artistry and pop culture. Boston Comic Con will be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center August 11 - 13 providing ample space for the thousands of expected fans of the three-day show. Boston Comic Con will feature a stellar line up of celebrity guests, comic artists, cosplayers and include a full schedule of events appealing to all ages.

Legendary comic creator Stan Lee returns to Boston Comic Con whose Super Heroes propelled Marvel Comics to its preeminent position in the comic industry. Other celebrity guests featured at the show are from hit movies and television shows: Ming-Na Wen of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," John Barrowman, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey of "Arrow," Watertown, Mass. native Eliza Dushku and James Marsters of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Charlie Cox of "Daredevil," Karen Gillan and Matt Smith of "Doctor Who," Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith of "Jay and Silent Bob," Barry Bostwick, Nell Campbell, Tim Curry, Meatloaf and Patricia Quinn of "Rocky Horror Picture Show," Karl Urban of "Star Trek," Anthony Daniels of "Star Wars," Felicia Day of "The Guild," Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley of "Vampire Diaries."

"Boston Comic Con's tenth anniversary show will be the best one ever," said Andrew Moyes, Boston Comic Con Vice President. "Our fans will be immersed in the biggest pop culture experience of their lives as they get to meet their favorite actors, comic artists and cosplayers. The new location gives everyone more space to be creative, including our many fans who come in magnificent costumes."

Boston Comic Con is now being operated by Fan Expo HQ, one of the largest entertainment convention groups in the world. Boston Comic Con founder Nick Kanieff will continue to consult with the show and said that the transition to Fan Expo HQ is a natural evolution in the growth of the Boston show. "Boston Comic Con will always be about the genre of comic artistry and about the fans and the new owners share that philosophy. I look forward to my continued involvement in this year's event which is sure to be a smash hit," said Kanieff.

New this year, family ticket packages include admission for two adults and up to four children between 6 - 12 years old. Family ticket packages for Friday, August 11 are $69 in advance, $79 at the door and for Sunday, August 13, $79 in advance and $89 at the door. Family packages for Saturday are sold out. There are multiple options for ticket packages including those that come with an exclusive Boston Comic Con bag with a Stan Lee design.
