After Backlash, 'Drag Race' Judge Todrick Hall Apologizes for Shawn Mendes Gay Tweet

Wednesday Nov 28, 2018

"RuPaul's Drag Race" judge and Broadway performer Todrick Hall is apologizing after he came under fire for a tweet he made about Shawn Mendes' sexuality — not long after the pop star talked about gay rumors in a Rolling Stone interview.

That piece hit the Internet on Nov. 26, in which Mendes addressed how rumors about his sexuality caused him a lot of stress. Click here to read more about that.

Nevertheless, Hall took to Twitter not long after stories about Mendes' feelings circulated around the web. In a now-deleted tweet, Hall wrote, "Shawn Mendes is not gay, or at least not yet. And he may never be...but one thing is for certain, if he EVER comes out. I've got dibs. Love you @ShawnMendes and your music! Hope to Marr, sorry meet you someday."

A screenshot of the message was shared by Twitter user @MikeyTBH, who wrote Hall's tweet was "cringeworthy and embarrassing." Others reacted to the dancer/singer's tweet.

Hall deleted his tweet and offered up an apology.
