OKLAHOMA CITY - An attorney for Tulsa County's clerk says he disagrees with a federal appeals court that struck down Oklahoma's ban against same-sex marriage.

Byron Babione (BA'-bee-on) with the nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom said Friday that the people of Oklahoma confirmed their belief that every child deserves a mom and a dad when they approved a constitutional amendment affirming marriage as a man-woman union.

The organization represents Tulsa County Clerk Sally Howe Smith, who was sued when she refused to grant a marriage license to a same-sex couple. Babione says he's consulting with Smith and considering whether to appeal Friday's decision by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Babione says whether citizens are free to affirm marriage as a man-woman union will ultimately be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

People like Byron just don’t get it. It’s not just about marriage to have children, but so much more. We should ALL be entitled to the same benefits that being married is afforded.

Would he be ok taking children away from single parent homes or from grandparents who are raising them because, you know, every child deserves a mom and a dad? What is he doing for any number of the states homeless children, or are they not important enough to get his name in the news to do anything about? Maybe he should readjust priorities a little.

How can idiots like Babionie even conceive priorities when they are totally blinded by their bigotry snd homophobia? I mean, imagine... homelless kids; foster kids; same-sex parent who have warm, loving homes... but no. He and others of his back-assed thinking could never see the gift horse right in front of them. Sad. Just sad.

So he speaks for a group called "Alliance Defending Freedom" and wants to prove it by denying people the freedom to choose who they wish to marry. In other words, he wants to be free to do what he wants us to. As for the issue of tying marriage to his beliefs of having children, perhaps then he should be requiring all couples to prove they are able to have children and want children in order to allow marriage. Try selling that to a loving elderly couple.
