Minn. Teen Denied Confirmation, Family Refused Communion Over Marriage Equality Support

A Catholic priest in Barnesville, Minn., denied a 17-year-old boy confirmation after he discovered the boy posted a photo on Facebook where he made it clear that he supports gay marriage, the Detroit Lakes (Minn.) Tribune reports.

The Assumption Church's Rev. Gary LaMoine told Lennon Cihak's family that he would not be receiving his confirmation, a rite of passage for Catholic youth, even though he has been preparing for event, which was scheduled for later this year.

Not only did LaMoine prohibit Cihak from receiving the sacrament; he also banned the teen's entire family from participating in communion at the church.

"You kind of know the Catholic beliefs, but I never thought they would deny somebody confirmation because you weren't 100 percent. I guess that's what shocks me," Shana Cihak, the boy's mother, told the newspaper.

Although Cihak is too young to vote, he made it clear that he supports same-sex marriage. The Facebook post that LaMoine is upset over shows the teen holding up a sign for Minnesota's marriage equality question, which was put on the Nov. 6 ballot. The sign originally read: "Vote Yes" on the state's marriage amendment, which would define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. But Cihak altered the sign to read, "Vote No! Equal Marriage Rights!"

After the results of Election Day were announced, those who supported marriage equality came out on top as the amendment was not struck down.

Once the photo was discovered, however, the priest talked with the boy's mother and told her that Cihak would not be allowed to complete confirmation.

The teen pointed out that several of his classmates "liked" the photo but were allowed to receive confirmation.

’You kind of know the Catholic beliefs, but I never thought they would deny somebody confirmation because you weren’t 100 percent’

"I just thought it was wrong to single him out," his mother told the Tribune. Cihak's father, Doug Cihak, pointed out the priest's having banned the entire family from receiving Holy Communion. The father added that he was not mad with LaMoine, whom he called a messenger of the church.

His wife doesn't agree. She says she will not return to the place of worship. "You should be able to go to a church for support, help," the boy said. "He pushed me away."

A similar incident occurred earlier this year when another Roman Catholic priest, Rev. Marcel Guarnizo of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Md., denied communion to Barbara Johnson at her mother's funeral service because she is a lesbian. Johnson said that the priest told her, "I cannot give you communion because you live with a woman and that is a sin according to the church."

After the incident, Johnson urged the archdiocese to remove Guarnizo. In March, he was put on administrative leave from the ministry because he was "engaging in intimidating behavior toward parish staff and others that is incompatible with proper priestly ministry." In July, the archdiocese announced that he was no longer with the archdiocese.

"Fr. Marcel Guarnizo is a priest of the Archdiocese of Moscow, Russia, who was given a temporary assignment at St. John Neumann parish," Chieko Noguchi Scheve, director of media and public relations at the Archdiocese of Washington, said. "That assignment period has ended and Father Guarnizo is no longer in ministry in the Archdiocese of Washington."

Just before the presidential election, Newark, N.J., Archbishop John J. Myers made headlines after he wrote a letter stating that Catholics who support gay marriage should not receive communion. Pro marriage-equality Catholics, should, he wrote, "in all honesty and humility refrain from receiving Holy Communion," and "to continue to receive Holy Communion while so dissenting would be objectively dishonest."

The 16-page letter harshly criticized same-sex relationships: "We cannot define and redefine marriage to suit our personal tastes or goals," the archbishop wrote.

Also just before the November election, Life News reported that Michael Sheridan, Bishop of the Catholic Dioceses of Colorado Springs, said Vice President Joe Biden should be denied communion from the Catholic Church because he supports abortion.

They should abandon the Catholic Church and join a congregation that is more about faith than BS.Meanwhile I wonder how many boys that priest has molested.

  • Andrew Fernandes, 2012-11-16 08:33:43

And after all this some people still believe in religion..... It has brought nothing but bad things to humanity for the last 700 years

  • , 2012-11-16 09:04:43

Yes, the Catholic Church has brought such bad things like university education (the scholastic monks), hospitals (the nuns and brothers), law and jurisprudence (Pope Gregory the Great), the preservation of history through 2000 years of turmoil, the preservation of written documents by the monks of Ireland....might want to learn your history.

  • , 2012-11-16 09:11:13

Makes me ashamed to be a Catholic. For those of you out there who thinks confirmation is’s not.

  • , 2012-11-16 09:25:20

The Catholic Church has also brought us systemic pediphilia, they turned a blind eye to the holocaust (I guess ridding the world of 6 million Jews was good for the Vatican), they’ve brought us corruption, hypocrisy, and fear of eternal damnation. GREAT role models. Oh, and scores of Catholics just love to bury their head in the sand when it comes to uncomfortable facts about their organization.

  • , 2012-11-16 09:29:58

Oh and the Catholics also have systematically marginalized women throughout their history.

  • Andrew Fernandes, 2012-11-16 09:33:55

Yes the church is great at preserving knowledge, specially when it comes to encouraging scientists to share their findings and not kill them or place them on house arrest because of blasphemy.

  • , 2012-11-16 09:50:18

By his public opposition to a tenant of the Catholic faith the boy is obviously not predisposed to defend it. The rite of Confirmation is not simply a social rite of passage. It has a far deeper meaning. This entire family has far more to learn about the Catholic faith. I laud the parish priest for his action.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:03:27

The problem with Catholics (one of many) is that they don’t understand that theirs is just a voice in a chorus. They don’t realize there are other faiths beyond their own. That is the mark of ignorance. Intelligent people can disagree intelligently. But when you have people like the Catholics and fringe evangelicals who believe the bible was written by God and not man, then ignorance prevails. It is also amazing how so many ’religious’ people are such hateful intolerant sheep. I hope their God is watching how many harmful, hate filled words and actions are done in His name. It’s also laughable how these people pretend to have love in their hearts but will happily dismiss a gay kid beaten of chained to a tree. And by the way, no one gives a fig whether or not you love the person and hate the sin. That is truly laughable. And sad.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:11:47

Why anyone would want to belong to a church that has abandoned faith for politics is beyond me. It’s like worshiping Rush Limbaugh. Go to the episcopal church. They’ll treat you with love and respect. The Catholic Church is damaged goods. It is outmoded.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:15:39

Pope Pius XII did speak out against the treatment of Jews during World War II. Though Pope Pius XII initially remained silent, he reversed his position during the second half of World War II. He protested the deportation of Jews during the German occupation of Hungary. He was instrumental in Latin America accepting emergency passports of several thousand Jews. He also helped 6,000 Bulgarian Jewish children immigrate to Palestine. There are numerous examples of him saving Jews if one bothers to do his homework. So the Catholic Church did not turn a blind eye to the holocaust as you stated above. You do realize that 5 million non-Jews died in the holocaust? The holocaust was not all about the Jews. Gypsies, Poles, the mentally ill and retarded also were killed. You stated that the Catholic Church brought us systemic "pediphilia". Studies have proven that Catholic priests are no more likely to molest than anybody else, probably less. Four percent of priests have been accused of molesting children while in the general population; it is more like ten percent. The witch hunt by the media and people such as you is what perpetuates these myths. You are just a bigoted ignorant uneducated fool who likes to shoot from the hip. Oh and the Catholics did not "systematically" (you sure like that word) marginalize women throughout history. Women are prominent throughout Church history from the time of Jesus.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:16:54

The Catholic church obeys Gods laws, and Gods will. Catholic’s are opposed to the "SIN" of gay sexual relationships, they are not against the gay people. It is the "SIN" that the church is not allowed to tolerate, not the people... Even I as a Catholic, if I commit a mortal sin(break one of the 10 commandments) I should not receive communion, and the priest is within his rights to deny it to me if he is aware of UN-repented SIN of this nature. He is required to do this. This boy is attempting to tell the church how to interpret Gods laws and Gods will. Therefore he is attempting to tell God what is right and what is wrong.... Bad idea. The church is not governed by the secular world, it listens only to God. You can try to remove God from the secular world, but it works the other way around as well. God can also deny us his love and protection. Hasn’t anyone of you noticed the sudden increase in horrific weather, earthquakes, and other calamities throughout the world? It’s your polite wake up call... It can get worse. Come back to God, and your life will be better for it, you will be happier.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:17:27

I don’t see Pelosi, any of the Kennedys, Cuomo, John Kerry, and so on, getting refused Communion for supporting abortion, which last I checked is against Catholic belief. And our "wonderful" Catholic Bishops supported Obama, the partial-birth abortion supporter. So forgive me if I have become cynical.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:19:01

It seems your flame has been stoked Anonymous. What is that? nine comments about something you obviously know nothing about. Don’t be ashamed to be Catholic, your not. Maybe, just maybe by name, but you are definitely not Catholic. If you were, you would know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. Catholic doctrine, guided by the Holy Spirit, doctrine guided by God himself and without error. Although it’s not said very often, by Canon Law your opinions have already excommunicated yourself. I don’t say that happily. What I do find puzzling is why anyone would openly declare themselves to be something they obviously hate. You speak about how confirmation isn’t trivial. You are correct, it is also not trivial to walk in defiance of what God openly declares. Like marriage between one man and one woman. You speak about uncomfortable facts. An organization two thousand years old run by "man" has had it’s stains, for sure. There’s really no need for lies such as the Vatican’s help in the ridding of Jews. That’s just gibberish. Rather than cloaking yourself in secrecy, speak openly about who you really are. Only a coward would claim to be one thing and then spew opinions as facts and half truths about an organization he himself clams to be part of. Don’t you think so? isn’t it cowardly to pretend to be something and then rip on it at the same time. Do you think it’s more credible that way? I say that because your language suggest your not Catholic at all. One minute your ashamed to be one, the next you write "might want to learn your history". In fact, other than that one claim, everything else you write suggest your not Catholic at all. A coward, apparently so, but not Catholic.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:20:16

The Anglican Church has been hemorrhaging members for a dozen years now. Why would anybody want to join such a church that can’t keep its members is beyond me.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:25:17

Dear "flame stoked". Go see a priest and ask him what the Catholic church says about this... Sounds like your a Cultural Catholic, and don’t really know your faith very well. You talk in terms that the "World" uses.... This is NOT the way of the church. I will pray for your enlightenment.

  • , 2012-11-16 10:31:15

The Anglican Church has been hemorrhaging members for a dozen years now. Why would anybody want to join such a church that can’t keep its members is beyond me.

  • , 2012-11-16 11:09:46

What most of you silly goofs don’t get is that the Church is an all or nothing institution. If we screw up, we can go to Confession and receive forgiveness. We CANNOT make decisions on Dogma and Canon Law on our own. That is why we have the Holy Father and the Magisteruim. Period.

  • cc, 2012-11-16 11:34:26

Take away the Catholic Church’s tax free status! They have overstepped the rules by donating their money to political organizations. Millions that should have been spent on schools and parishes was given to politicians. That’s a no no.

  • , 2012-11-16 12:09:18

Come on folks, keep your comments on the subject! Specifically, the actions and attitudes ot the boy and his family along with those of the parish priest. Leave your petty gripes for some other posting.

  • , 2012-11-16 12:54:50

cc - The Church DOES NOT donate money to "political organizations." What are you even referring to? What politician gets ANY money from the Catholic Church? Your assertion is absurd. The Catholic Church is God’s means of leading souls to salvation. The role of the bishops is to "guard the deposit of faith." That means that the truths of faith and morality are revealed BY God (not the bishops)TO mankind and are binding on those who believe in God and His love for us and His desire for us to ultimately live with Him eternally in His kingdom. We have free will; we can live as we doggone well please; we can rebel against God’s moral teachings if we so wish, but NOT without consequences. If you want to have same-sex sex, you can do that; but, don’t think you can go on doing it and, unrepentant, think you will achieve eternal life. The Catholic Church, as well as the Sacred Scriptures (produced BY the Catholic Church), as well as the Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church, are clear on this point. St. Paul speaks of those who WILL NOT inherit the Kingdom of God. Reject this if you wish, but that won’t change reality, or truth.Any committed deadly sin requires sacramental confession for a person to be restored to being in a state of grace. Holy matrimony (that is, marriage)is a sacrament. Thinking same-sex behavior can be put on the level of a sacrament is sacrilege and simply blasphemous. It mocks that which is holy, and while divorce and remarriage, fornication, adultery, and masturbation are all also serious (mortal) sins, sodomy is all the more serious because it is most disordered and violates the laws of nature. Only sacramental confession can restore the grace lost from these sins. Those who attack religion do so in order to LEGITIMIZE their behavior and expect others to accept it. Their concern is not for truth or reality, but rather what their own short-sighted self-gratification. They reject God as He has revealed Himself, and play God themeslves as if to be the determinate of what is right or wrong; that’s exactly what happened with Adam & Eve. We all would only do well to admit that we are fallen creatures, and in great need of a loving, and merciful, Savior! Being obstinate in our behavior will not lead us to eternal life, and this young boy does not have the authority to change Church teaching or have an entitlement to the Sacrament of Confirmation if he refuses to be obedient to what the Church teaches. Until he does, he ought to refrain from receiving holy communion until he understands what he is doing. From the comments of his mother, it makes sense why he is as misled as he is.

  • , 2012-11-16 13:33:38

You idiots talk of ’God’s will’ and ’God’s laws’ as if he came down to earth and decreed this himself. You bible thumpers need o realize that this is only a mythology which you choose to believe. You actually believe that Moses raises his arms and parted the ocean? Moron! If you’re so keen on believing God’s law, then you should try and live up to a higher standard. But I’m confident you will remain a small minded idiot who believes in gay sin and witchcraft. Speaking of which, why are you even. Trolling around a gay news site? Some deep seated sin locked in your loins? Surely you’ll go to Hell for that. In any case, I hope gay heaven is blessedly free of religious morons like you. I pray you never have children. Better your DNA gets pinched off before it politesse the rest of the gene pool.

  • , 2012-11-16 13:38:53

Bla bla bla the ’true’ church. That is the same mantra every religion on the planet subscribes to. You believe it because it happens to be yours. Muslims believe the same thing. Jews, Hindus, Pygmy cultures its no different. It’s so fascinating you have scores of pedophile priests on your midst. Where’s your outrage with that? Or is it okay for a Priest to do that because he wears a collar?

  • , 2012-11-16 13:40:53

When will Jim Jones give these people their kool aid?

  • , 2012-11-16 13:41:23

Sounds like you are most definitely a fallen creature. How sad for you.

  • , 2012-11-16 13:44:23

God made me exactly as he planned. Gay and married to another gay man. In a church. Oh, and I’ve been to the Vatican. No lightening bolts. Although they had the balls to put donation boxes every ten feet. The almighty dollar seems to be the driving issue there rather than the Almighty. Salvation is proportional to $$$

  • , 2012-11-16 13:46:54

Fortunately I belong to a church that doesn’t believe all that BS. It’s the one true church.

  • , 2012-11-16 13:48:53

OMG ladies, God sent the hurricane. LMAO. It’s curious that most of the really bad deadly weather occurs in the Bible Belt. Maybe that’s God trying to tell you to pull your head out of your ass and be nice to people.

  • , 2012-11-16 14:12:54

The Catholic Church is upholding the teachings of Christ. You don’t have to be Catholic if you don’t believe the Truths she teaches. But at least, if you are going to disagree with the teaching of the Catholic Church, at least disagree with what she actually teaches. I applaud the priests and bishops who uphold the teachings of the Church. They are helping those people not to commit a mortal sin by receiving Christ through the Eucharist while in a state of sin. The Church has always been a place to support women and women’s roles in the church. Again, disagree with what we really teach.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-16 14:38:22

I disagree with any religion that teaches one person’s morality is better than another’s. You sit and judge gay people. Rather you should mind your own business. Gay people’s souls are not there for you to save. Worry about your own soul and let us worry about ours. But as far as your beliefs, well those are yours. But I for one have heard enough. I still think its quite curious you are trying to preach on a gay website. Maybe you’re here for the pictures. In any case, it really doesn’t matter what your beliefs are. They don’t happen to jibe with mine, and I’d venture a guess they don’t with the majority of people on here. The Catholic Church isn’t the only church. There are other denominations and congregations that aren’t quite so ignorant as the one you apparently belong.

  • , 2012-11-16 18:01:40

Good for the bishop for standing firm in the faith! We need more bishops like him. And to the person who said the Bible belt is being hit by the worst disasters - check your facts. New York City was just hit by the Perfect Storm and is still suffering from its effects. New York City is the abortion capital of the USA and the first major city to approve of gay marriage. Also of interest is that when they made gay marriage legal, a hurricane was headed for the heart of New York City and very narrowly missed, but still caused much destruction. The time is running out for God’s patience. Repent before it is too late.

  • , 2012-11-16 18:05:56

Gay marriage is an abomination that will not go unpunished! This young man is certainly no hero, but no doubt he will be used by the socialist marxist liberal establishment to push their perverted doctrined and agenda. May God have mercy on him and his family and all who oppose the will of God!

  • Wheeler, 2012-11-16 18:10:50

    Blah blah blah thumpers!

  • , 2012-11-16 18:12:01

If you want to know what God thinks of gay marriage and the homosexual lifestyle, the read about Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. God wiped out the entire cities with fire and brimstone. This generation has not know the full justice of God, but God is still real. He has not changed. And the time of mercy is running out. God loves gay people, but He does not love the homosexual lifestyle and certainly not gay marriage. The very idea is an abomination. If someone finds that they are gay, they should try their best to live a chaste life as a single person or maybe even as a monk. A celibate life is much less suffering that an eternity in hell.

  • , 2012-11-16 18:55:58

Hasn’t there been enough on this topic?! I went to a catholic elementary school & a catholic high school and the one thing we got taught above all was to love everyone as they are! That love is the true word of the lord! I myself, have never been baptised & don’t belong to any religion! I think it’s one of the reasons our world is so messed up! Honestly, what type of people hate someone & treat someone differently just because they are gay, look different, sound different?! All religions do it, they all expect you to act a certain way, be a certain way & change so you suit the religion! Everyone is unique, that’s the way it should be! No one should be expected to change just to "fit in" I’m a lesbian & I love all my friends & family the same regardless of who they love, what they believe, what colour skin they have! Everyone is equal & everyone deserves to love and be loved! It was wrong for the priest to push the boy & his family away because you are meant to feel safe & a church is meant to provide a helping hand when needed & not be so judgemental! All religion is judgemental, that’s one reason I stay away from it! My parents gave me the choice if I wanted to be baptised or not & for the time being I’m happy not belonging to any because each religion in one way or another discriminates against people being different! To me, that’s not how it should be! Everyone should be accepted as they are!!!

  • WayGay, 2012-11-16 19:07:43

LOL. "It is with love the Catholic Church calls homosexuality a sin" LMFAO. It was with love Jerry Sandusky raped little kids. It was with love your priests molest altarboys. LOL. You need some serious therapy.Perdition is having to live near you people. Your love is neither desired nor required. How sad for you.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-16 19:20:06

LOL. "socialist marxist liberals" you’ve got to be the stupidest, saddest, most pathetic person on the face of the earth. If there is a Hell, it’s filled with people like you. You should be the one repenting for judging God’s other children God is made in MY image honey. He’s got great shoes and an Armani suit. It’s been very entertaining, like watching those videos of fat people at Walmart. But safe to say we won’t be breaking bread together at a cocktail party. Have a great life. Have a great afterlife. Just remember the path to Hell is paved with good intentions. God does love me. And he loves my big gay husband. Since God brought us together let no man put asunder. Even if you think it’s all wrong. No need to pray for us; we certainly won’t be praying for you. Simply put, you are nothing to us and your words only serve to show how ignorant you are and how limited our species can be.

  • , 2012-11-16 21:17:54

"socialist marxist liberals" What the? you make me laugh my but off. you think you are a loving christian but all you spew is hate.

  • , 2012-11-16 21:26:23

Sorry but the word gay is a made up word let’s be honest the true word is homosexuality. Any questions?

  • , 2012-11-16 21:27:52

Hope you’re not talking about me, my post being the one saying I went to catholic schools. I’m not baptised & follow no religion cause they are all as bad as each other. The world would be better off without it! I love everyone in my life & don’t discriminate against anyone. Each to their own lives & that’s the way it should be. No one interfering with others lives, the catholic church not being involved in civil matters, no one telling me I’m going to "burn in hell" for being a lesbian, just everyone accepting people as they are, no discriminating at all!!!!

  • , 2012-11-16 21:32:28

Sorry but the word gay is a made up word let’s be honest the true word is homosexuality. Any questions?

  • , 2012-11-16 21:36:35

Does that include Hilter? just accepting everybody as they are would have to include him and you right?.

  • , 2012-11-16 21:41:03

Just raise your right hand if you are sure?

  • , 2012-11-16 21:49:47

Yes, it does, if it wasn’t for people thinking they were better than others or Hitler thinking who the "perfect" human is, we wouldn’t be in such a mess. All the gay community out there, who’s been picked on or discriminated against just for loving the same sex? Wouldn’t a lot of gays, especially teens, feel better about who they are without all the hate crime? Without people constantly saying "you’re not good enough?" I, for one, know if religion didnt exist & people thought differently, cared about each other more, I wouldnt have had all bullying I did & the government saying that my relationship isn’t equal to that of a straight couple! All religion is the same, hence the reason why I’m not baptised & unless the world drastically changes, I will never be. Religion is what is wrong with this world, it’s been the cause of most wars, the war on terrorism for example, had some people in the middle east not thought they were better than others, the war wouldnt have happened. Religion discriminates against people! Who cares who people love? What they look like? What colour skin they have? Has the human race really become that petty to fight over such things??? Those things, colour, race, sexuality should NEVER be an issue!!!!

  • , 2012-11-16 22:13:26

"Yes, it does" ok so you do include Hitler . Make up your mind.As you said "just accepting everybody" But then you say" But then you add it wasn’t for people thinking they were better than others or Hitler thinking who the "perfect" human is, we wouldn’t be in such a mess" Question! On whose authority gets to decide who is right you or Hitler? If there is no authority you have no rigt accusing Nitler for messing thing up.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-16 22:22:05

Hitler, wow. There’s a long list of evil doers in the world, most of whom felt they had some Devine guidance steering their way. All I can say is from what I’ve read here, your mother should have had an abortion.

  • , 2012-11-16 22:33:29

"Who cares who people love? sexuality should NEVER be an issue!!!!"Ok you win. Then I say I want many wives hmm how about a bakers dozen Iam beginning to like your kind of thinking. Well mabey I’ll just marry my dog for sex. Religions? Again without authority who cares which religion anyone belongs to or what they teach.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-16 22:38:47

And who was it that used to have multiple wives? Ah yes, the religious Mormons. The only people in aware of that have sex with dogs are hillbillies and they’re too stupid to be gay. You’re just a very sad little person. You’re nothing.

  • , 2012-11-16 22:44:56

"There’s a long list of evil doers in the world"Why do you get to decide who is evil or not? "Your mother should have had an abortion" Are you trying to be like Hitler and want my mother to murder me?.Only God has the right to take a life. Only God has the authority!!! He made me I am all His not yours thank God!

  • , 2012-11-16 22:51:54

If I am so stupid Why can’t you answer my questions!! I replete, 1st Question! On whose authority gets to decide who is right?2nd Does that include Hilter? just accepting everybody as they are would have to include him and you right?.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-16 22:54:08

And if you’re the typical shill for the Catholics, then LOL honey you are not doing your church any favors.

  • Bob K, 2012-11-16 23:02:03

Wow lots of discussion. get rid of Pope Benedict

  • , 2012-11-16 23:08:39

By your standards since you can’t tell me on what authority you get to decide, then what is wrong with Mormons having multiple wives? And that goes for hillbillies too. On whose authority do you get to say I am stupid or what standards are you using. Sorry but you are begining to bore me.You speak obviously without authority.that makes you a complete idiot. Where is the objective authority? None I see with which there is only your teeny-weeny subjective ideas.

  • , 2012-11-16 23:14:18

    get rid of BOB KELLERMAN

  • , 2012-11-16 23:21:05

Jesus never turned anyone away. The Catholic Church used to sanction same sex marriages centuries ago. Why ate people worried about what "the church" thinks? It’s what God thinks that matters.

  • , 2012-11-16 23:22:45

    Catholics rock!

How funny you feel you have the ought to preach to us but when anyone brings up an uncomfortable point you scream by what right do you have bla bla bla. You have renewed my faith! I am absolutely certain there is a God, and that you have no idea what he wants., who he loves, and the dangers of cherry picking passages from a book of fairy tales. Good night sweet prince or princess. May you dream of salvation. May your future be brightAnd may you anoint yourself with the holier than thou oil. I’m sure you’ve converted us all.Well done. Meanwhile the kid that was refused communion can still come and be welcome in our church.

  • , 2012-11-17 02:19:33

What I meant was if hitler accepted people as they are instead of claiming what or who t he "perfect" human is, the war wouldnt have happened. It’s because he believed that others were less, not equal & people were better than each other. I did NOT mean that we put up with what he did, I meant if thought differently, treated people the same way, all would have been fine. I should know, I lost a great grandparent to that war & I hate Hitler for claiming that some people were better than others!!!

  • , 2012-11-17 02:32:48

No one gets to choose what is right & wrong, certainly not me but come on, honestly, can you really condone killing innocent people because of they way they looked? I can’t see how anyone could do that & be so purely evil. did happen but my point was, if people respected each other, respected each others beliefs & thought everyone was completely EQUAL instead of the attitude "I’m better than you", the world would be a much better place to live in. I believe in the big bang theory & science surrounding it cause it’s a proven fact but what’s in the bible, there is no solid proof who wrote it. How can the genesis book be written if man was created after the world was created unless the story got told to man & in that case it could all be a lie or you believe that a higher being or aliens made some of the first writings about it. But going back to the original topic, it was wrong of the church to single the boy out. What about all the other people that "liked" the photo on facebook? Who go to the church but also support the boy? People keep bending & twisting the words of the bible to suit themselves.

  • Wheeler, 2012-11-17 07:05:55

To you F-in bible thumpers on here commenting! I find it really funny that you pick and choose parts out of the bible to bitch and moan about. Your such a hypocrite, what I mean is the bible says that god created all men and god made me in his image! Well then I guess that means god created gay people and since I’m gay I guess he created me in his image. So everything you Catholics talk about contradicts half the stuff in the bible. And just for the record I was confirmed, baptized and still take communion. I have had nothing but an amazing loving wonderful life and I’m legally married to man! So suck it you bigots!!!!!!

  • , 2012-11-17 08:23:13

"No one gets to choose what is right & wrong" you say ! But then go and tell me what is right. honestly, can you really condone killing innocent people because of they way they looked?" etc. Please answer my question by what right do you have to decide who is good looking or not."completely EQUAL"? Equal to what you if not you then who mother Tresea.

  • , 2012-11-17 08:26:57

"I believe in the big bang theory & science surrounding it" Why are you trying to change the subject? Are you a politician? You won’t answer my question! Why can’t you answer my questions!! I replete, 1st Question! On whose authority gets to decide who is right?2nd Does that include Hitler? just accepting everybody as they are would have to include him and you right?.

  • nick, 2012-11-17 09:16:18

I was confirmed in the 1980s. Even back then, Catholic lay folk in my parish never thought confirmation to indicate a 100% agreement with all of the church’s stances and beliefs. Confirmation was just a tradition to do it since everyone else in your family had gone through it. I think this priest is out of line. The church would think twice before bringing that medieval bully pulpit crap to where I live (Long Island, NY).

  • , 2012-11-17 10:15:59

""I was confirmed in the 1980s"" What do you think this means in the bible? ""He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me." The church has the final Authority not you.

  • , 2012-11-17 10:19:37

And don’t forget 1 John 4:6 tells us how we are to discern the spirit of truth from the spirit of listening to the leaders of the Church. "We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error."

  • Unbreakable1, 2012-11-17 13:30:00

As a former Catholic, alter boy, and scout member I acquired a deal of knowledge about both institutions. The church is within its right to not confirm the young man. I don’t agree with it but it is the churches right. Now as far as denying the parents communion is just ridiculous. Now this person who lives and dies in support of the Catholic Church. The church does suppress women. The nuns better know their place and stay in it. The church did not speak out against discrimination during the Jim Crow era. They weren’t even allowing African Americans into the priesthood. Now why would I remain a part of an organization that didn’t fight for me! The money from family and thousands of other African American’s was certainly worthy! And before you say there were 3 black popes, stop right there. To this day it is not known if they were people of color. They were just from northern Africa. The bible was written by men, and the formation of the King James Version was created to unify regions (all power and political motivations). To this family I say, join a UCC church.

  • rscluff, 2012-11-17 14:36:29

This whole argument is a joke.... Your both being children that are as blind and ignorant as the other grow up. You both think differently and so what. Has it stopped either of you from living your own lives? No. God or whatever higher power there is will judge both of you and they are the only one with authority to say who’s right or wrong. Why not move forward in your own lives. Great your a cath and are happy about it so go be happy about it. Your not religious and no one is forcing you to be so go spend time with your amazing husband and talk about all the joy your higher power has provided for you. We’ve established that neither of you are changing the others mind on anything so why keep trying? Good lord my children fight less over who’s right or wrong. I know my higher power loves me deeply hence why he have me my perfect match and best friend of a husband and we thank him daily for it. So spend your energy enjoying what you have and what you believe rather then waste it telling someone they can’t be happy because they don’t think just like you!!!

  • WayGay, 2012-11-17 15:06:09

You’re other problem is that you treat the bible as if it were some sort of legal instrument. It’s not. It is a collection of parables and fables. Yet you think by repeating the mantra ’the bible is real’ that makes it so. What you can’t seem to accept is that not everyone in this world has the same reverence for a book which has been very loosely translated with a bent that leans towards a variety of sub denomination. The Book of Mormon for example, what is more reduculius than that? Yet scads of Mitt Romney’s believe it. Just accept that your religion ends at your skin. I don’t care what you believe in, who you’re deity is, and whether or not you approve of gay people. Your problem is not one of faith. Your problem is you can’t stand that we don’t care what you believe in. If you’re so worried about your interpretation of Gods laws, then don’t lay down with a man. Don’t have premarital sex, don’t have an abortion, don’t break any of the 10 commandments. Oh and loving thy neighbor as thyself doesn’t mean pretend to love them and at the same time hate their sin. I know that makes it easy for you to spew your intolerance by couching it with your little catchphrase of loving the sinner and hating the sin, but really that’s just nonsense. So you can rant and rave all you want until the day you die, but no one here will ever validate your point of view.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-17 15:06:09

Wow you cry whose authority a hundred times. Wow is that your word of the day? Authority authority. You clearly are a person of very limited intelligence. No one gives a shit about your perceived Devine authority. No one. Sorry if that hurts your delicate sensibilities. You can cry all you want about gods law and biblical bullshit, but fact of the matter this is only important to YOU. If you think that by coming on here and calling gays diseased or mentally challenged that makes you feel better about yourself, then you go boy. It won’t change the fact that you are in a growing minority of people in this world and will, as time progresses, become more angry, more bitter, more isolated, more pathetic. You are entitled to your beliefs. Just as we are. And no one gives a flying fuck what you think God’s plan is. God made me exactly as He planned. He also made me an episcopalian. Which means your religion means precisely squat to me. The disease is ignorance. And you have a full blown case of it. That’s my authority.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-17 18:07:44

OMFG, get it thru your dense skulls. No one cares about your asinine Sodam and Gomorrah bullshit. If the Bible said yay unto God and shove your head into a cows asshole you would gladly be picking corn out if your teeth. We don’t care. We don’t go to your church. We will never go to your church. I’m not catholic. I seriously couldn’t care less about your catholic sensibilities. But I doubt you will get it. Instead you troll around a gay web site. Whose in Sodom now bathhouse boy?

  • , 2012-11-17 23:01:25

Hey brainless Sodam and Gomorrah is a bibical historical fact.

  • , 2012-11-18 02:50:12

To me because there is no solid proof of who wrote the bible or even if the "stories" are real, I believe in Science because there are solid facts, solid proof of how the world began. In my eyes, all Religion is the same, they ALL discriminate against different people & that’s something I won’t stand for! Everyone is equal & that’s how we should all be treated! And all you Catholics, who do bend & twist the bible to suit situations, stop it, I can’t stand people who do that or who preach their religion to me! You can’t pick bits & pieces of the bible without looking at it as a whole! You cant say the gays will burn in hell & then work each Sunday when the bible says Sunday is meant to be a day of rest! Each time you do it, you contradict yourself, the bible & the catholic religion. And people wonder why I don’t believe in it. The bible discriminates against lots of people! I don’t believe in Religion! A lot happened in the world before the bible was written & a lot is not mentioned in bible & everything that did happen before the bible, it’s all backed up with scientific proof! And honestly, why are straight people who don’t support gays even reading this site? Because by what I’ve read, it looks like you’re trying to cause trouble & want to preach to us gays. I’m telling you, I won’t listen to the bs, I don’t believe in the bible nor heaven & hell and nothing anyone says to me is going to change it. What the priest did was wrong! I can somewhat understand about the boy but the priest should have done the same to all the boys friends who liked the photo & not just single him out nor should the priest have told the boys family they couldn’t attend the church, that is downright discrimination!!! I’m glad the mum is standing up to the church, so she should for being treated the way she did!!!

’I believe in Science because there are solid facts’ Try this on for size. Phoenix, Ariz., Aug 7, 2009 / 04:10 pm (CNA).- Researcher and physicist Dr. Aldofo Orozco told participants at the International Marian Congress on Our Lady of Guadalupe that there is no scientific explanation for the 478 years of high quality-preservation of the Tilma or for the miracles that have occurred to ensure its preservation.professor of ethics at the Technological Institute of Durango, Mexico, Mendoza has done extensive analysis and research on Juan Diego’s tilma Mendoza noted Our Lady’s tilma shows the radiant rays of the sun surrounding her as she appeared, wearing a blue-green mantle that depicts the universe. Also fascinating is the pattern of stars strewn across her mantle. According to Mendoza the pattern mirrors the exact position of constellations on the day her image appeared on the tilma, Dec. 12, 1531. He used a graph to prove it.The fact that the tilma has remained perfectly preserved since 1531 is a miracle in itself, according to Mendoza. After more than four centuries, Juan Diego’s tilma retains the same freshness and the same lively colour as when it was new.a professor from NASA conducted an independent analysis in 1979 and concluded that there is no way to explain the quality of the pigments used for the pink dress, the blue veil, the face and the hands, the permanence of the colours, or the vividness of the colours after several centuries, during which they ordinarily should have deteriorated.Peruvian Jose Aste Tonsmann, an expert in digital image processing, produced them. The figures in Our Lady’s eyes’ reflection show the people historically known to have been present at the unveiling of the tilma in 1531

Don’t get lost the list is endless. Google Garabandal. Many Eminent doctors have studied the events and have visited the persons involved at Garabandal. No one has so far found any satisfactory scientific explanation for these events. All agree that what occurred at Garabandal is something humanly unexplainable and something which merits attention and respect. One thing is clear - we find ourselves before certain facts for which science can find no explanation. After years of Observation, a child specialist has certified that the girls have always been completely normal and that the ecstasies do not fall under any known physiological phenomena. Dr. Ricardo Puncernau, a well known Barcelona neuropschiatrist states: "In the presence of these facts it is difficult for the doctor to give a merely natural explanation... From a strictly scientific point of view one cannot deny, at least thus far, the possibility of a supernatural cause in all these phenomena." Dr. Gasca Ruiz and Dr. Ortis Gonzalez , who have also studied these phenomena state, "To keep silence would be true scientific cowardice on our part. We do not find any convincing scientific explanation capable of explaining such phenomena."

  • , 2012-11-18 13:38:13

"The Incorruptables" -The incorrupt bodies of certain Saints . What is perhaps one of the most unusual phenomenon regarding the bodies of Saints is that of the miraculous preservation of a great number of them after being interred for years in conditions that normally should have provoked their destruction according to the laws of nature, and even more so because in almost every case of incorruption in the lives of the Saints the bodies were not embalmed or preserved in any way. Yet in spite of not being embalmed or treated in any fashion, the bodies of "the incorruptables" as they are called, have remained lifelike, flexible and often sweetly scented many years after their death. Many are now displayed under altars in glass-fronted reliquaries, to the admiration and wonder of countless people.

"To me because there is no solid proof of who wrote the bible " For the most popular book on the planet you think there is no proof who are you kidding. the Bible was not written all at once, or by one man, like most other books with which we are acquainted, but that 1500 years elapsed between the writing of Genesis (the first Book of the Old Testament) and the Apocalypse or Revelation of St John (the last Book of the New). It is made up of a collection of different books by different authors, forming, in short, a library instead of a single work, and hence called in Greek, ’Biblia’, or the Books. If you had lived in the days immediately succeeding the death of Moses, all you would have had given to you to represent the Bible would have been the first five books of the Old Testament, written by that patriarch himself; that was the Bible in embryo, so to speak. it is composed of 73 separate books-46 in the Old Testament, and 27 in the New If you want the restof the story you"ll find it in the book free on line "Where We Got the Bible: Our Debt to the Catholic Church by The Right Rev. • , 2012-11-18 18:54:16

I didn’t say the bible wasn’t written, I’m just stating there is no proof that the "stories" are real & I know it was written over time. That’s the only logical explanation & the only one that makes sense. But if you go back in history to the era that the bible was supposedly written, how was it written, what on, considering as far as I know & I could be wrong but any form of paper didn’t exist & didn’t come about until much, much later and far beyond the era of the bible & even when it did come about it was parchment. If there were no means of writing it down on paper, where did they write it all? there is no written proof on cave walls like lots of other cultures. Like I said, to me, there are too many things that don’t add up in terms of the bible. And don’t bring up some article in Arizona that Ive never even heard of! I’m talking about things that everyone has heard about, like the big bang, like there is proof how stars come into formation, that there is a blackhole at the center of our solar system. The other thing that baffles me about the bible, it states everything was created in 7 days but there is no mention of say dinosaurs but there is proof that they existed. As of today, other than the bible itself, no proof has been found that I’m aware of about what happened in that particular era. All we have is one book. So yes, I’m skeptical to believe especially when science proves otherwise, that the world took a lot longer than 7 days to create. And before anyone says anything, if the people who wrote the bible knew about time & could state what 7 days was, if it was created in a longer time period, why not just say it? They could understand the concept of time or that is what is concluded when you read about the creation of the earth. There are lots & lots of reasons why I don’t believe in the bible, no one is going to change my mind, so stop preaching about the bible cause it won’t make me believe.

Various materials were used in ancient times for writing, as, e.g., stone, pottery, bark of trees, leather, and clay tablets among the Babylonians and Egyptians. (I) But before Christianity, and for the first few ages of our era, Papyrus was used.Thousands of rolls of papyrus have been found in Egyptian and Babylonian tombs and beneath the buried city of Herculaneum, owing their preservation probably to the very fact of being buried. First bible has nothing to do with science or history. It was written only to explain something about either moral or faith. The seven days really is not about days only part an analogy to the author’s point. For example if I told you that it was raining cats and dogs or if there were a million people there you would understand that it was raining real hard or a lot of folks show up . But someone in the future were to read this they’ll think I meant literally cat and dogs, etc. Understand the bible is separated between old and new. What make this so different is that out of a world of polytheism from the Jews came momotheism. This typically is never the norm usually society develop more and more gods. Next Jesus was the only ever that was ever pre foretold. That was in the old testament. All others like Muhammad etc. came on their own.

  • , 2012-11-18 21:47:40

Your right the only proof that the bible can be real Jesus has to be real. Historically we know that there was a man name Jesus. I see the proof by studying the evidence. For example the old testament speaks of a savor describing his birth place his purpose and the type of death!

  • , 2012-11-18 21:50:56

So you see hundreds of years before Jesus was born he was pre-for told.

  • , 2012-11-18 22:13:45

"the big bang" First of all I ain’t preaching. I am just giving you as I wrote above proven documented scientific facts as I am far from being a preacher. Now with was the big bang simple I don’t know where the big bang came from cause I wasn’t there. If there was really a big bang I have no problem with that. However the problem I do have is where did the big bang come from. Can you tell me?

  • , 2012-11-19 09:45:15

The question is was the historical Jesus God or not. For that one needs to examine the evidence which is overwhelming . For example , witness of history, documented miracles, and tradition. Reason alone.

  • , 2012-11-19 09:50:58

Also faith. Why must we know God thru faith is because understanding heaven is beyond human capacity.

Since we’re all "anonymous" it’s easy to be rude and demeaning...I see that most from those who are more left leaning. I really don’t know why the left answers with hate and malice. I really don’t. Perhaps they know that morals matter that Jesus is real and is NOT for same gender sex and they feel guilty.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-19 15:11:12

  • WayGay, 2012-11-20 06:47:46

What’s truly sad is that you think yours is the only true interpretation of God. You’ve been sold a bill of goods. Believe what you want, but your data, your admonishment, your very presence here is all for nothing. Nothing you say here will convert anyone. And the funny thing is, all these reams of texts have been an exercise is futility-for you. Imagine if you directed your efforts towards someone who actually believed in your mythology? You can quote the bible all you want but I guarantee you don’t follow what the bible says in Leviticus. (Or was that just pesky first edition stuff?)The one that needs saving is you. You obviously have a great fear of the afterlife. Perhaps you have reason to. We don’t. You can decry God’s creation all you want. But he made us HOMOSEXUAL (since you don’t like the word gay) and I’m very happy he did. The Hell you plan for us is the one you are going to roast in. You may not realize that now, but one day you will stand in judgement and then waving your bible and shouting your condemnation at St. Peter that you were doing God’s will is not going ringer you through the door. Jesus loved everybody. Jesus didn’t turn anyone away (like I bet you would if you had a gay kid). You should first start loving yourself before throwing stones at us. And really? You throw out mortality stats for San Francisco? Remember Jonestown? Those were some pretty high mortality rates too.

  • , 2012-11-20 09:04:30

That said, I know man and man sex and woman and woman sex is wrong. Yet we all deserve love and respect. I see none of that here.

  • , 2012-11-20 09:15:05

"the only true interpretation of God"What? No way! nevewill I be myself the final interpreter. And neither will you does not the Bible say who is to decide the "spirit of truth" and the "spirit of error"? Do you know? Is it by individually reading scripture? No! 1 John 4:6 which says, "We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.". This is very powerful one should read and meditate on these words not just gloss over them. 1 Corinthians 12:28 "God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers" So God says, the Bible says, the word of God says these are the people who will lead us to the truth.Luke 10:16 "He that hears you hears me; and he that despises you despises me; and he that despises me despises him that sent me. It’s too obvious These church leaders were given full authority." Well who are these leaders the Bible talks about? 1 Corinthians 12:28 "God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers" So God says, the Bible says, the word of God says these are the people who will lead us to the truth.

    That is Correct!

  • WayGay, 2012-11-20 12:21:18

This argument is pointless. You believe whatever you want. If you believe you’ll go to hell if you are gay, then stay off the gay sites. You might catch the gay just from being here. But I’m done with these bible thumpers. It’s laughable that they think we are ever going to give their belief system credence. Back to the original point if the thread, I hope the family that was denied service by their church finds a church they feel welcomed at.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-20 12:29:12

Blah blah blah this is so pointless. The bible thumpers will never, ever accept us, and we will never yield to their simplistic biblical perspective. End of story. They think we’ll all go to hell; fine, move on. They come back with stern warnings about our peril; fine, move on. They come back with we must all be sad inside, boo hoo; fine, move on. Then they star back at the beginning again with God’s law blah blah blah; fine, understood, we get it, no need to dumb it down any further. We really do understand your viewpoint. We just don’t care about it. Move on. And yeah yeah yeah, smite, besmirch, witchcraft, devil, homo blah blah blah; just move on.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-20 19:08:55

It’s you’re not your. You’re like the evil emperor on Star Wars always talking about the dark side. You are tiresome and irrelevant. You have no power here. Your words are focused at the wrong people.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-20 19:12:28

Seems like you are the one that needs to be worried about the afterlife. I’m all set. The Episcopal church lets gays in heaven god told them so. So did Jesus. You go to your 5000 year old red neck heaven and the rest of the world will go to high brow heaven. And don’t worry, if you say it doesn’t exist then you just go to yours and don’t worry about us.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-20 19:16:00

If you are so learned in the bible, then how come you don’t know the difference between ’your’ and ’you’re?’

  • , 2012-11-20 20:52:53

"Seems like you are the one that needs to be worried"All you are doing is making noise how about some logic.By the way Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she laid an asteroid.

What’s that got to do with the price of tea in China? Afraid of the truth chicken?

  • WayGay, 2012-11-21 07:56:27

This is like the 10th Sodam and Gomorrah reference. Yes, yes we get it. We just don’t care. I realize this is all real to you. But for those in the world that don’t believe the bible is a literal book of history, you can site fairy tale after fairy tale and it will still just be a book of stories. Just because you want all that to be real doesn’t make it so. Move on. No one is listening. And for the umpteenth time, Christianity is not the only religion in the world. I know you’re convinced you’re right and everyone else is wrong, and if that works for you then that’s awesome. What’s really amazing is how much time and effort you are devoting to this gay site. Imagine if you spent your time in a truly charitable effort? You light actually be able to help someone who actually wants your help. But being here talking down to a people who have zero interest in what you have to say is a waste of everyone’s time. And spare me the fire and brimstone speech, we all get your point.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-21 17:23:13

There is a saying, never argue with an idiot. It only confuses the idiot. The bible thumper seems to think that calling us chicken it will incite some kind of fury. Not the case. And also not the case that anyone will be swayed by tired old dogma and outdated religious doctrine. No religious argument in the world is going to turn a gay person straight. These religious guys that come on to gay sites spewing their venom are no better than the Taliban, who are also very convinced of their religion. Just about the only difference are the clothes, beyond that blind ignorance rules. And yes I know, the come back will be some homily. Save your breath.

  • , 2012-11-21 22:17:38

Don’t put words into my mouth. in other words if you want to argue with what I believe fine but don’t waste your time arguing with what I don’t believe. I’ll explain the bible is only such a tool and not there for to every tom Dick and Marry to read and come up with whatever interpretation they think the Holy Spirit is leading them. Even the bible confirms this Matthew 18:17" But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be be established. 17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as a heathen man and a tax collector. Note what this passage does not say it does not say to consult scripture it says to consult the Church. In other words if one fails to listen to the church throw.

  • , 2012-11-21 22:22:52

Note even the bible does not say bible alone. If you are saying the bible alone them you are using a sorce outside of the bible. Not the bible.Question since the bible is compose of 73 books where in the bible does it say which books belong in the bible?

  • , 2012-11-21 22:38:28

Since it does not say which books belong in the bible then you must rely on a source outside of the bible. That source outside the bible is what I follow.

  • , 2012-11-21 22:43:42

Can someone please explain to me why there are bible bangers preaching on a gay website? Just saying!

  • , 2012-11-21 22:56:10

the church that Jesus started was up and running for ten years before anything was ever written down . The last NT book written about 40 years later until the last NT book. Before the printing press in 1483 most never own or could even read the bible anyway. The bible was hand written. Thus a very valuable book at the time

  • , 2012-11-21 22:58:52

Dude I only see Church bangers not bible dudes did you read what they writen above?

  • , 2012-11-21 23:04:45

Say dude no one here is preaching! Preaching defined is the art of delivering sermons.Look it up. I see no sermons here is your conscience brotherning you?

  • , 2012-11-21 23:11:15

Say dude this may come as a shock to you but there is absolutely no evidence of either biological or genetic proof that supports homosexuals. Believing otherwise it does not make it real.

  • , 2012-11-21 23:15:58

I wish they quit preaching that Homo stuff and quit calling it gay it’s anything I repete anyting but gay!More like a sad frown!

  • , 2012-11-21 23:19:28

Gay for the Homo means diabolical. Gay for all else means happy in doing God’s will.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 03:43:21

LOL. Wow you guys are hilarious. The bible says.... It’s proven fact... Like witches? Proven fact too? The bible says. You guys so utterly don’t get the point. Pretending something is real because the bible days so or because you think it was foretold in the Force doesn’t make it so. Saying there isn’t any genetic proof that gay is naturally occurring doesn’t make it real. Where are you guys from? Must be Kansas. Are their schools there beyond your bible school? How funny you are. God I’m sure is laughing at you for being such pricks. You remind me of missionaries who go into a foreign village and respect all their customs and traditions... Just not respect for their religion. And yes, I KNOW yours is the "one true religion" just like the Taliban. How sad for you that you speak ill of gay people in the name of the Lord. The sad clown here is you.

Very few transsexual obituaries were recorded but these typically died even earlier than the homosexuals. Many obituaries detailed considerable pain and suffering experienced by the decedents". The sexual revolution of the sixties was prepared by a century of cultural developments where sentiment was detached from reason. In this regard, the Romantic School of literature and the arts celebrated a general exaltation of emotion over reason and the senses over the intellect. In so doing, romance and love became the highest ideal. In the name of love and passion, every rule and social convention could be broken. When applied to morality, this mentality was devastating, since adultery and even prostitution could be rationalized and even acclaimed.1 1. George P. Landow, Professor of English and Art History at Brown University, writes about the philosophical

Another contributing factor was the discovery and mass marketing of the contraceptive pill: In May 1960, the FDA approved the sale of a pill that arguably would have a greater impact on American culture than any other drug in the nation’s history. For women across the country, the contraceptive pill was liberating: it allowed them to pursue careers, fueled the feminist and pro-choice movements and encouraged more open attitudes towards sex.

The ongoing homosexual offensive is on the cutting edge of the sexual revolution today.homosexuals constitute a minority of less than three percent of the population Homosexual activists are the new standard-bearers who prepare society to accept and follow ever more promiscuous and abnormal forms of behavior.

  • , 2012-11-22 11:08:50

The homosexual movement employs words and concepts as semantic weapons to change individuals and society. Concepts like compassion are meant to build acceptance, while others, like homophobia, are meant to inhibit and even paralyze reactions. By affixing the homophobic label to its opponents, the movement hopes to both intimidate and disqualify its antagonists, brushing off their arguments based on right reason as "irrational fears."

If the religious guy loves his neighbor like himself, he obviously doesn’t love himself very much. He has so much rage for the LGBT community, I wonder where is his rage for all the priests and pastors who molest their youth. Where’s God’s venom there? Better to sweep that under the rug and blame the child, right? You are the most unchristian person I’ve ever had the displeasure to hear from. And God is watching you spew hatred in His name and taking note of how un-Jesus like you really are.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 11:32:44

Blah blah blah. All the same old tired nonsense. And once again, you thumpers devote your time to a GAY WEBSITE. You’re probably jerking off while you’re preaching your idiocy. If you’re so pious why do t you devote your time towards something beneficial? Rather you use your time and hateful devotion to a BS religion to make yourself sound like a moron. Do you honestly think anyone who reads Edge is going to lend credence to your fundamentalist Christian values? Really? You think everyone is that swayed by your hurtful arguments?Your time would be better spent doing something constructive. But no one here believes you are at all an model Christian. In fact you are probably the worst example of Christianity I’ve ever seen. What other gay sites to you frequent? Probably the biggest gay site you have is in your pastor’s office. There’s no point in being nice to you or even reasonable. You’re just so filled with hate and BS you can’t possibly fathom yours is not the only religion. Thank God for that. I thank God he mad me gay. I thank God daily for my husband to whom I’m legally married to BEFORE God in a church. If you want to talk about the merits of being gay, start with your clergy. You want to protect people from the gay? Try protecting your children from predatory priests and pastors.

  • , 2012-11-22 11:43:44

The Homosexual agenda:portrayed themselves as victims of circumstance. In reality, the homosexual agenda is false and devious scheme to swindle the public’s mind. They want folks to believe that they stand in need of protection. The public must be brought around psychologically to feeling it must extend this protection to homosexuals in order to be consistent with its own principles. Present homosexuals as people who are born that way and who cannot change even if they so wished. This leaves the public psychologically torn on how to act towards homosexuals: If it is not their fault, how can homosexuals be blamed? In TV commercials, do not trot out masculine women, drag queens and so on. Instead, present the most ordinary-looking people: Show images of youngsters, middle-aged

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 12:10:46

And please if you’re going to continue to post get some new sayings. Your have used your old ones a hundred times already. And they sounds just as stupid now as they did the first time. And I don’t think any gay person is blaming the Catholics for anything. Certainly not for our being gay. You just can’t handle the notion that God works in mysterious ways and that you are obviously not privy to his plan. If you think God made gay people so you can try and convert him then he obviously has a great sense of humor. Joke’s on you. And you’re obviously not an educated person because no educated person thinks that being gay is a mental disease. Your mentality may not be able to process that and that’s okay. The world needs ditch diggers too.

Natural law, not the spouses, determines the purpose of marriage as well as the number and sex of the contracting parties. The idea that homosexuals can create samesex "marriage" through their individual choice is false. Finally, the statement that "the State should not interfere with their decision" is also false. When the State proscribesthe union between two individuals of the same sex, it neither violates the basic human right to marriage nor one’s right to freely choose a spouse because this union is not marriage. Moreover, by enacting laws allowing homosexuals to enter into same-sex "marriage," the State would violate its own purpose, which is to assure the common good of society and safeguard public morality.

  • , 2012-11-22 12:43:49

Regardless of how a false analogy is packaged, one must never forget that packaging does not alter substance. An emotionally packaged false analogy is still a false analogy. Without same-sex "marriage," the homosexual movement’sbid to impose its ideology on America will fail. The scuttling of the movement’s efforts in this regard is vitally important for all Americans who respect and love natural law and the Ten Commandments, and the social order derived from them.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 14:42:51

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 14:43:15

’God doesn’t create things he hates’ Well since God created homosexuality I guess everything is right with the world. And if you really want to analyze this, what was the first human God created? A hot naked man. Whose the homo now?

  • , 2012-11-22 15:00:30

In its subversive "moral revolution," the homosexual movement cannot simply jettison all morality, since this would leave a void in the human soul. Homosexuals must convince themselves and society that homosexuality is good and moral. It must create its own pseudo-morality. Homosexual propaganda does this in several ways. However, all efforts rotate around one central axis of reasoning which can be outlined as follows: 1) I feel sexually attracted to people of my sex; 2) Sexual behavior consistent with this inclination gives me pleasure; 3) Pleasure is good; 4) Therefore, homosexuality is good. In an article titled "The Virtue of Homosexuality," homosexual writer John Corvino illustrates this ethical justification for homosexuality:I have spent my last five columns-and a good deal of my career-defending homosexuality against various moral attacks. Yet sometimes I spend so much time explaining why homosexuality is "not bad" that I neglect to consider why it’s positively good. Can I offer any reasons for thinking of homosexuality as, not merely tolerable, but morally beneficial?... First, homosexuality can be a source of pleasure, and pleasure is a good thing. Too often we act as if pleasure needs to be ’justified’ by some extrinsic reason, and we feel guilty when we pursue it for its own sake.... This is not to say that pleasure is the only, or most important, human good. Nor is it to deny that long-term pleasure sometimes requiresshort-term sacrifice. But any moral system that doesn’t value pleasure is defective for that reason.1 This is hedonism, the philosophical system developed by the Greek philosopher Epicurus that holds pleasure to be the defining principle of human life. This hedonism confounds pleasure with goodness ("good" is what causes pleasure), or subordinates goodness to pleasure. This subverts the whole moral order and poisons the very fountain of morality. Once the false premise of hedonistic philosophy is accepted, an irreversible logic takes over: If pleasure can justify homosexual behavior, then other deviant forms of sexual behavior deemed pleasurable can also be logically justified. This includes pedophilia, pederasty, ephebophilia, gerontophilia, necrophilia, sadism, masochism, bestiality and many other types of deviant behavior.

  • , 2012-11-22 15:32:57

Man’s rational nature compels him to find meaning and purpose for his life. He may try to flee the profound underlying philosophical and theological questions of life, but his rationality always forces him to confront them. As a result, every individual, whatever his background, ends up establishing or adopting a philosophy and theology for himself. This worldview may be rudimentary or even embryonic, but man’s relentless rational nature does not rest until it possesses this explanation. In this quest for the meaning of existence, behavior and ideas influence each other profoundly and seek the consistency demanded by reason. As Paul Bourget observes in his celebrated work, Le Demon de Midi, "One must live as one thinks, under pain, sooner or later, of thinking as one has lived." The radicalism of the homosexual "moral revolution" leads inevitably to a great clash. This is a clash of two worldviews, a Christian worldview and one that is intrinsically anti-Christian.

It has nothing to do with being anti Christian. It has to do with fundamentalist Christians being anti human. One fellow said God doesn’t make things he hates. He made me, and all gay people. The response from the same fellow was some butchered slang calling me fag. For these people to pretend to be so charitable and Christian, they do Jesus Christ a great dishonor by being so evil to their fellow man, simply because they disagree on sexual orientation. Their own churches are to blame. Any pastor can create a sermon making anything good or evil. Today it happened to be the gays. Tomorrow it may be something equally pointless, as a gay person is no threat to you. But I digress, fire brimstone whose arborist yadda yadda yadda.

As the homosexual ideology makes inroads into American culture, androgynous trends become ever more noticeable in society. Writing in the Journal of Sex Research, Margaret Schneider observes: The sexual revolution, which began in the 1960s with the rise of the counterculture and, later, combined with the second wave of feminism, brought a surge of so-called sexual liberation to mainstream North America accompanied by a particular mode of gender-bending. In the interests of mental health and equal opportunity, women were permitted to behave a little bit like men, while men were encouraged to behave a little bit like women. This was called androgyny, which referred to a combination of gender-typical and gender-atypical characteristics within individuals

Excellent, and the truth is that God made me exactly as he planned. And not you or you’re medieval interpretation of a MAN MADE document isn’t going to change it

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:43:15

OMG now were on to androgens ?Just go back and dance with your rattlesnakes and drink the kool aid

  • , 2012-11-22 15:44:15

This androgynous trend pervades the fashion world today. It is stamped on men and women’s attire, folded into their hairstyles and distilled into their perfumes, profoundly influencing society.2 Austrian fashion designer Helmut Lang, for example, explains why he incorporates an androgynous look into his designs. This desire to mix male and female into a new androgynous gender lies at the core of the homosexual ideology. Indeed, the movement’s founder Harry Hay starts off his manifesto founding the Mattachine Society with the words, "We, the androgynes of the world..."4 Homosexual writer Paul Varnell relates how Hay gave vital importance to androgyny: Hay’s "idealism" had three components: a) gays are qualitatively different from heterosexuals, mentally, psychologically, spiritually, not just in "what they do in bed;" b) the core difference lies in the natural androgyny of homosexuals, that they embody both male and female elements; and c) in order to help promote their acceptance gays need to explain the contribution this difference makes to society.5

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:45:29

Hey this is off point, but why have so many of your bible thumping pastors been caught with gay boys and drugs? We’re they ministering to them as they were being sodimized?

  • , 2012-11-22 15:46:36

Michel Foucault, another homosexual theorist, writes: Homosexuality appeared as one of the forms of sexuality when it was transposed from the practice of sodomy onto a kind of superior androgyny, a hermaphroditism of the soul. The sodomite had been a temporaryaberration; the homosexual was now a species.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:47:19

Wow so it all boils down to the fashion industry. Wow score one for the charge for its crack investigative reporting. LOL Luckily for you bible zealots plaid and house frocks never go out of style.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:48:15

I would gladly be a separate species from the inbred DNA you’re sporting.

  • , 2012-11-22 15:49:16

In his study "Androgyny: The Pagan Sexual Ideal," Dr. Peter Jones of the Westminster Theological Seminary in Escondido, California, links pagan androgyny to the homosexual movement. Dr. Jones shows that it was very common in pagan religions of antiquity and among indigenous peoples in the New World, Africa and Australia for the priest figure (medicine man/shaman) to be androgynous, an effeminate man in female dress.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:49:52

It’s odd you make a species argument since you don’t believe in evolution

  • , 2012-11-22 15:52:48

When people forsake Revelation and natural law, their thirst for the sacred stops seeking God and pursues fantasies created by their own unrestrained imaginations. They create and adore their own gods, usually a mythical projection of their own bad habits. By thus attributing a religious dimension to their vices, they "justify" them. The Fathers of the Church teach that the Greco-Roman pagan world turned its vices into gods.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:54:29

OMG gays, here’s an opportunity: start writing books that appeal to these bible thumpers. Pretend to be converted and they’ll all buy it. Just like those fake converts who get spotted in gay bars. LOL. These guys will buy anything that makes anything they hate seem connected to paganism or scary lesbians or beastiality. All in the name of Jesus. Praise Jesus. Btw, I do t think Jesus ever called anyone homo or fag. Come to think of it I think Jesus loved everyone. Oh we’ll, it’s apparently enough to pretend to love the sinner while secretly hating their guts. (Make sure you ’say’ you hate the sin, that will get you in good with the Pastor)

  • , 2012-11-22 15:54:52

Indeed, men do make a religion of their vices, and absurd doctrines are reflected in absurd cults. In Ancient Greece, for example, a large symbolic representation of a phallus was carried on a float in the processions to worship Dionysus, the god of wine and of an orgiastic religion celebrating the power and fertility of nature. Pagan Rome had its bacchanalia, drunken orgies in worship of Bacchus. The worship of Aphrodite in Greece and Astartis (or Ishtar) in Mesopotamia involved ritual prostitution. Under Canaanite influence, this same abominable practice was introduced in Israel. During these periods of infidelity of the Chosen People, even the Holy Temple of Jerusalem had rooms where the hierodules (ritual male and female prostitutes) carried out their rites.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:56:00

Justification seems to be exactly how your church works. I feel like I need a shower after talking to you. I bet you’re fat

  • , 2012-11-22 15:58:25

THE PURPOSE OF THE SEXUAL ACT If sexual intercourse were not enjoyable in itself, the propagation of the human race, which depends on it, would be jeopardized. Reason makes it clear, however, that the purpose of this act is not pleasure but the perpetuation of mankind. To make pleasure the primary motive for sexual intercourse replaces the principal end of the act with its corollary. This inversion runs contrary to the act’s very purpose. Begetting new life brings with it the obligation to raise a child and care for his material needs, especially his education and character formation. This is no small responsibility and requires sacrifice and dedication.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 15:59:20

And all if them are exactly convinced of their religious superiority just like you.

  • , 2012-11-22 16:00:35

All this demonstrates that only the loving, permanent union between a man and a woman who desire to have children, raise them affectionately and provide mutual help throughout the vicissitudes of life provides the ideal conditions for the begetting and education of children. Hence, the conditions for sexual intercourse to entirely fulfill the noble end set down by the Creator are only found in monogamous and indissoluble matrimony

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 16:01:26

You really are simple. You seem to think that gays are only gay because of sex? OMG princess you need to get out more.

  • , 2012-11-22 16:03:17

Thus, anything opposed to the main purpose of sexual intercourse (procreation and the consequent upbringing of children) is evil.3 In religious terms, it is sinful. This main purpose can be frustrated in two ways. Firstly, this can be done by artificially avoiding conception or by engaging in sexual acts that are sterile by nature, such as self-eroticism and homosexuality.4 Secondly, the main purpose is violated when the fecund nature of sexual intercourse per se is respected, but the parties lack the concern and conditions toraise the child properly. Such is the case with fornication, adultery, incest, seduction and rape.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 16:05:15

Oh honey yours must be a terrible burden. The whole world is against you. I do pity you.

  • , 2012-11-22 16:05:22

In the state of innocence, Adam and Eve exercised total control over their passions: "The man and his wife were both naked, yet they felt no shame."6 After Original Sin, however, "the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized that they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves."7 The disorder of Original Sin is a great trial for man. As Saint Paul says: "But I see in my members another principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members."8 But with the grace of God these bad tendencies can be overcome, as Saint Paul proclaims: "I can do all things in him who strengthens me."

  • , 2012-11-22 16:07:17

Our Lord elevated matrimony to the supernatural level, making it a sacrament. He bestowed special graces on marriage, restoring it to its original dignity in the Garden of Eden, when God united Adam and Eve in holy marriage. Christian marriage is also a symbol of Christ’s union with the Church, as Saint Paul teaches: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her, to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word, that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. So (also) husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church, because we are members of His body. ’For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 16:07:55

  • , 2012-11-22 16:11:37

Because of the weakness that Original Sin left in man, moral theologians have always recommended extreme care to avoid being overcome by carnal desires. King David is a primeand allowing himself to be captivated by Bethsabee’s beauty, he ended up sinning with her and ordering the death of her husband, Urias. In the words of the Savior, "Watch ye: and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed isOn the individual plane, lust destroys peace of mind, nobility of soul, heavenly desires and causes spiritual blindness. The more one satisfies lust, the more vehemently it burns, provoking nervousness, excitation and impatience and often leading to other sins and even crime. Thus, lust numbers among the seven capital vices. It feeds egotism, thoughtlessness, rashness and instability. Through lust, extremely painful and sometimes even fatal sexually transmitted diseases, such as AIDS or syphilis, are contracted and spread. It can also feed morbid tendencies. In society, lust favors corruption, fosters prostitution and pornography, renders families unstable, encourages contraception and abortion and harms the upbringing of children.11 CHASTITY FREES MAN The virtue of chastity liberates man from the tyranny of concupiscence, making him more apt in noble, spiritual activities and strengthening his will for the battles of life. willing, but the flesh is weak.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 16:31:54

Sad that he heads a church that capitalizes on fear and promotes disharmony, breaks up families, causes simple minded people to say horrible things and believe a doctrine that convinces them 1, they are superior to others and 2, God will somehow reward them for disowning a gay sin or daughter and 3, salvation is proportional to the amount if money they fork over. Sad really.

  • , 2012-11-22 16:34:28

By their very anatomic, physiological and psychological makeup, the sexes mutually attract each other spiritually and physically. This gives rise to a special form of the love of friendship called conjugal love, with its fecund and selfless plenitude that results in the begetting, protection and raising of children. Although conjugal love satisfies the natural propensity of man’s instincts, it is not blindly dependent on them. Therefore, love in its proper sense is a benevolent, altruistic sentiment guided by reason and the will. "Homosexual love" is impossible because it seeks to transform the love of friendship between people of the same sex into conjugal love

  • WayGay, 2012-11-22 16:35:56

It doesn’t matter whether or not you support gays or gay marriage. Not one iota. But you come here to this site and spew venom thinking it will ingratiate yourself with your church or make you feel more "christian" I put it in quotes because you are not very Christian at all. You’re a joke. You’re nothing. Honorable Christians don’t do what you do. Jesus certainly wouldn’t. And he died for you? No he didn’t. Not for you.

I will now part for thanksgiving for a large, gallinaceous bird by conclusively concluding the conclusion acknowledging with a yawn with conscious of the enormous difference between these individuals who struggle with their weaknesses and strive to overcome them and others who transform their sin into a reason for pride, and try to impose their lifestyle on society as a whole, in flagrant opposition to traditional Christian morality and natural law. However, we pray even for these. Yes, we pray for the radical activists pushing the homosexual agenda, even as we do everything permitted by law to block their efforts. We pray that, through the intercession of Mary Most Holy, the grace God gave Saint Paul on the road to Damascus be given them as well, so that they may come to see the errors they promote, sincerely reject them, convert to God Good night and mat God Bless

  • WayGay, 2012-11-23 12:39:46

It’s very telling that the bible thumper who said ’God don’t make things he hates’ can’t conceive that gays could be anything but made by choice. Their entire argument crashes because they believe in the infallibility of God. It’s much easier for them to gin up all this nonsense about gays being ’sad inside’ and ’mentally diseased’ and all that nonsense. They have to, and will always come up with (in their minds) a ’reasonable’ explanation for the existence of gays. ’Evil’ is the catch all. ’Pleasure’ loving free-sexing pagans is another. And of course they cherry pick the passages and partial passages in the book of daily tales that help them sleep at night. Fact of the matter is, what the couple of bible thumpers that post here think is absolutely irrelevant. Yes they make hurtful allegations and are very misinformed about biology, science, life, education, etc. Educated people don’t use the word "ain’t" and they don’t have circular arguments. If you look back over these posts the thumper will always go back to the beginning by say ’by what authority’ and then it’s the cut an pasting of someone else’s writing, the slang bigoted names, the holier than thou diatribe, and then the ’by whose authority’ yet again. What is all boils down to is that the bible thumpers can’t figure out why God put gays and lesbians on the earth, and it really pisses them off. And how do the weak minded respond? Well, I’m sure it will be more false Glenn Beck style targeted journalism, cutting and pasting select passage of the bible, accusations of pleasure seeing, mortality stats, slurs, and the ever popular ’by what authority’And they wonder why their numbers are being marginalized in the world. Yes, God must really frustrate them.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-23 12:40:51

Ah yes, if God is infallible then gays must be very difficult for these thumpers to reconcile.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-23 17:36:48

Again with the ’what authority’How about God is infallible. End if story. That’s some good authority. God is infallible and God put me on this earth along with all the other gays and lesbians. His plan seems to supersede your petty anti gay rant.

Question who has the final authority spiritually speaking on the infallible teaching from the bible regarding homosexually? That can only be explained by asking a few question. Why do human beings have value? Do they have value? What makes a human being have value? Is it how much money one has? Or a high IQ? Do our lives have value if some loves us? Is it because were productive? Do children have value? Note these question are only subjective. That is one persons opinion VS another person’s opinion. Answer only if there is a God can there be an objective opinion. Question how do we know the things of God without our subjective opinions. Answer this can only be possible if God gave that authority to specific humans to teach his will.. Well who are these humans. To discover this question one must examine the historical evidence. First historical fact Jesus was the only one that was pre-foretold. 2nd for those who believe in the bible one can search there for answers. However ,whoever reads the bible on their own will only end with their subjective opinion. don’t forget 2 Peter 3:16 "As also in all his Epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they doe also the other Scriptures, onto their owned destruction" Who do you think that Peter was talking to? Peter was talking to the first Christians who thought they had the best interpretation of the day telling them that some things in Paul’s writings are difficult to understand and to misinterpret it could lead to their own destruction. Even if we knew all scripture and had all sorts of PHD degrees in theology, etc. We will still have all sorts of opinions on what this or what that scripture means. We will not always agree on all things. Where’s the unity Jesus prayed to the Father for us in John 17:21? He prayed that we would be one as He and the Father are one .Not so good when you think there are over 25,000 and growing Protestant religions each claiming to have the right and sometimes contradictory interpretations. Thus we need God’s authorized church leaders with God given infallible authority. So who is authorized to interpret the bible objectively? I Purport that since the bible does not tell us which books belong in the bible then it has to be the same people that put the 73 books together. Looking to the bible for this clue are several passages on this subject. In 1 Timothy 3:15 hmm it reads the pillar and ground of the truth." is what the Bible? NOPE. " But if I tarry long, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." So the Bible says, the word of God says it’s the Church not scripture. Therefore, the final authority is God’s Church. So the Church founded by Jesus Christ is an singular visible authoritative church. Think about this, for the Bible to have authority the Church has to have authority. How do we know the Bible has no errors? How do we know which books are suppose to be in the Bible? Because the church tell us so. Since the Bible does not have a list to tell us which books belong in the Bible we need to rely on a source outside of the Bible. Need more ok. For more evidence on authority let’s see Matthew 18:17" But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as a heathen man and a tax collector. Note what this passage does not say it does not say to consult scripture it says to consult the Church. In other words if one fails to listen to the church throw them out.Still need more ok. , how does the Bible say we are to decide the "spirit of truth" and the "spirit of error"? Do you know? Is it by individually reading scripture? No! 1 John 4:6 which says, "We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.". This is very powerful one should read and meditate on these words not just gloss over them. Need more ok Luke 10:16 "He that hears you hears me; and he that despises you despises me; and he that despises me despises him that sent me. It’s too obvious These church leaders were given full authority." Question again who are these people? 1 Corinthians 12:28 "God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers" So God says, the Bible says, the word of God says these are the people who will lead us to the truth. Finally, remember Jesus started the one, true, holy and apostolic church. This church is both visible meaning the ones on earth and invisible the ones in heaven. Surely folks on earth will always screw things up but we got God’s word that the gates of hell will not prevail Matthew 16:15-20 ; thus it’s not just a bunch of manmade unauthorized fallible organized religions with everyone believing all they need to do is individually pray to the Holy Spirit and they’ll get the infallible right interpretation which is contrary to 2 Peter 3.. Therefore it’s only these people authorized to teach about the moral implication on homosexual lifestyle.

Bla bla bla bla bla. Odd that the thumper has a Nazi fixation. Actually, it doesn’t seem that odd at all. It just must boil their blood that the infallibility of God must be in question for them. And once again, for the 1000th time, who here cares what the thumper thinks?Do you really think you are going to convince anyone that the earth is 5000 years old, that Adam and Eve spontaneously appeared, and a talking snake did them in?Your world must be very simplistic.

Sounds like this site has been invaded by a couple of skinheads. Juts don’t respond to them any more. They are only here to get a rise out of the readers. Clearly their religion causes them great concern for their spiritual well being. Maybe fir them it is justifiably so. We shouldn’t be angry with them. Ranting at them here is like yelling at a special needs child. Be charitable towards them; they think their souls are in danger. From what I’ve read here I’d say that is pretty evident. I mean really, when you see these people on the street waving their bible and shouting at a church, all you can do is feel sorry for them. Of course they will respond to this with some diatribe, but what they say doesn’t matter to anyone but themselves.

  • WayGay, 2012-11-24 22:24:41

Insanity is when a book compose by an author read and interpreted by others then tell the author what the book means. Now that’s ridicules. The crazy idea that people will take something written by someone else that never belong to them then have the gall to tell the author what they wrote even when the author disagrees .That book is the bible. The author is the catholic church.

wives of King Solomon to claim, "The ancient Hebrews, for instance, engaged in polygamy - according to the Bible." Of course, he would never take the Bible as an authority on anything that might contradict his point of view.& #160; For instance, in the beginning, way before Solomon, we see talk of marriage - one man and one woman - in Genesis 2:24. Cain is also mentioned as having one wife. The first time we see someone mentioned as having two wives is in Gen 4:19, when it says that Lamech took two wives. So, one may assume that none of his forebears did. But Lamech seemed to be a pretty nasty dude (Gen 4:23-24), and he was of the line of Cain. We also see that Noah only had one wife, as did each of Noah’s sons. Abraham only had one wife, and when she died, he took another wife. So, he had two wives, but one at a time. Lot only had one wife. Isaac had only one wife. Jacob had two wives, but he only wanted one - he was tricked into marrying one of them. It seems that, from the beginning, the biblical norm is one man and one woman for marriage. The exception to this rule is usually amon g the kings - David and Solomon, for example - and not among the normal folks. But, of course, that would not be a good thing to point out when you are trying to make the case that "traditional" marriage really isn’t "traditional," so the author avoids such inconvenient facts. And, even in the polygamous unions, what do we see? Husbands and wives. Men and women. Never men with men or women with women.

For all of you of another faith who believe that being gay is wrong, look at every other species of the world! They all include homosexuality, it is a part of NATURE! It’s normal! There has been a lot of scientific research and there is a lot of science to back it up now! Until people of different beliefs understand that, and understand that not all of us believe in god, nothing will ever change!

  • , 2012-12-04 21:36:32

Here is a recent article about homosexuality in animals! & another & there are plenty other sites I can link you to! I have no issues with people believing the bible, just to preach to me & say that being gay is wrong! It’s NOT! Look back in time, in history, a lot of ancient cultures actually had kings & queens who were secretly gay! There have been books & novels written about it & all based on fact! So stop with the preaching! This is a civil matter, not a church matter & it’s about time everyone understood the difference!

Oh! I get it.?! So if my buddies and I go to a particular sports bar every Saturday, at the same time, to watch college football - does that ritual mean that we have entered into a same-sex union? "Male bonding rituals were common in churches across the Meditteranean." Evidence? Citations? Finally, pay attention to how the folks who do these things are very selective in their citationsYou better read the rest of the story.Young has been researching the albatrosses on Oahu since 2003; the colony was the focus of her doctoral dissertation at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, which she completed last spring. (She now works on conservation projects as a biologist for hire.) In the course of her doctoral work, Young and a colleague discovered, almost incidentally, that a third of the pairs at Kaena Point actually consisted of two female birds, not one male and one female. Laysan albatrosses are one of countless species in which the two sexes look basically identical. It turned out that many of the female-female pairs, at Kaena Point and at a colony that Young’s colleague studied on Kauai, had been together for 4, 8 or even 19 years - as far back as the biologists’ data went, in some cases. The female-female pairs had been incubating eggs together, rearing chicks and just generally passing under everybody’s nose for what you might call "straight" couples. Young would never use the phrase "straight couples." And she is adamantly against calling the other birds "lesbians" too. For one thing, the same-sex pairs appear to do everything male-female pairs do except have sex,, but I guess if you have a perverted mind, it might not be that difficult to imagine. Finally what we have here is to cite some odd ball in cheep research who said something that supports their argument, while ignoring a whole bunch of other folks in history who said or provdthings that contradict their argument. Selective citation based on a pre-determined outcome !

Natural law pertains to creatures who can reason. The Old Catholic Encyclopedia quotes St. Thomas Aquinas when defining natural law: "According to St. Thomas, the natural law is ’nothing else than the rational creature’s participation in the eternal law’ (I-II, Q. xciv)." Remember, many animals also eat their young. Better not to go there!

Animals Do It, So It’s Natural, Right? The reasoning behind the animal homosexuality theory can be summed up as follows: - Homosexual behavior is observable in animals. - Animal behavior is determined by their instincts. - Nature requires animals to follow their instincts. - Therefore, homosexuality is in accordance with animal nature. - Since man is also animal, homosexuality must also be in accordance with human nature. This line of reasoning is unsustainable. If seemingly "homosexual" acts among animals are in accordance with animal nature, then parental killing of offspring and intra-species devouring are also in accordance with animal nature. Bringing man into the equation complicates things further. Are we to conclude that filicide and cannibalism are according to human nature? In opposition to this line of reasoning, this article sustains that: There is no "homosexual instinct" in animals, It is poor science to "read" human motivations and sentiments into animal behavior, and Irrational animal behavior is not a yardstick to determine what is morally acceptable behavior for rational man. There Is No "Homosexual Instinct" In Animals Anyone engaged in the most elementary animal observation is forced to conclude that animal "homosexuality," "filicide" and "cannibalism" are exceptions to normal animal behavior. Consequently, they cannot be called animal instincts. These observable exceptions to normal animal behavior result from factors beyond their instincts. -- Clashing Stimuli and Confused Animal Instincts To explain this abnormal behavior, the first observation must be the fact that animal instincts are not bound by the absolute determinism of the physical laws governing the mineral world. In varying degrees, all living beings can adapt to circumstances. They respond to internal or external stimuli. Second, animal cognition is purely sensorial, limited to sound, odor, touch, taste and image. Thus, animals lack the precision and clarity of human intellectual perception. Therefore, animals frequently confuse one sensation with another or one object with another. Third, an animal’s instincts direct it towards its end and are in accordance with its nature. However, the spontaneous thrust of the instinctive impulse can suffer modifications as it runs its course. Other sensorial images, perceptions or memories can act as new stimuli affecting the animal’s behavior. Moreover, the conflict between two or more instincts can sometimes modify the original impulse. In man, when two instinctive reactions clash, the intellect determines the best course to follow, and the will then holds one instinct in check while encouraging the other. With animals that lack intellect and will, when two instinctive impulses clash, the one most favored by circumstances prevails.[4] At times, these internal or external stimuli affecting an animal’s instinctive impulses result in cases of animal "filicide," "cannibalism" and "homosexuality." -- Animal "Filicide" and "Cannibalism" Sarah Hartwell explains that tomcats kill their kittens after receiving "mixed signals" from their instincts: Most female cats can switch between "play mode" and "hunt mode" in order not to harm their offspring. In tomcats this switching off of "hunt mode" may be incomplete and, when they become highly aroused through play, the "hunting" instinct comes into force and they may kill the kittens. The hunting instinct is so strong, and so hard to switch off when prey is present, that dismemberment and even eating of the kitten may ensue.... Compare the size, sound and activity of kittens with the size, sound and activity of prey. They are both small, have high-pitched voices and move with fast, erratic movements. All of these trigger hunting behavior. In the tomcat, maternal behavior cannot always override hunting behavior and he treats the kittens in exactly the same way he would treat small prey. His instincts are confused.[5] Regarding animal cannibalism, the Iran Nature and Wildlife Magazine notes: Cannibalism is most common among lower vertebrates and invertebrates, often due to a predatory animal mistaking one of its own kind for prey. But it also occurs among birds and mammals, especially when food is scarc

-- Animals Lack the Means to Express Their Affective States To stimuli and clashing instincts, however, we must add another factor: In expressing its affective states, an animal is radically inferior to man. Since animals lack reason, their means of expressing their affective states (fear, pleasure, pain, desire, etc.) are limited. Animals lack the rich resources at man’s disposal to express his sentiments. Man can adapt his way of talking, writing, gazing, gesturing in untold ways. Animals cannot. Consequently, animals often express their affective states ambiguously. They "borrow," so to speak, the manifestations of the instinct of reproduction to manifest the instincts of dominance, aggressiveness, fear, gregariousness and so on. -- Explaining Seemingly "Homosexual" Animal Behavior Bonobos are a typical example of this "borrowing." These primates from the chimpanzee family engage in seemingly sexual behavior to express acceptance and other affective states. Thus, Frans B. M. de Waal, who spent hundreds of hours observing and filming bonobos, says: There are two reasons to believe sexual activity is the bonobo’s answer to avoiding conflict. First, anything, not just food, that arouses the interest of more than one bonobo at a time tends to result in sexual contact. If two bonobos approach a cardboard box thrown into their enclosure, they will briefly mount each other before playing with the box. Such situations lead to squabbles in most other species. But bonobos are quite tolerant, perhaps because they use sex to divert attention and to diffuse tension. Second, bonobo sex often occurs in aggressive contexts totally unrelated to food. A jealous male might chase another away from a female, after which the two males reunite and engage in scrotal rubbing. Or after a female hits a juvenile, the latter’s mother may lunge at the aggressor, an action that is immediately followed by genital rubbing between the two adults.[7] Like bonobos, other animals will mount another of the same sex and engage in seemingly "homosexual" behavior, although their motivation may differ. Dogs, for example, usually do so to express dominance. Cesar Ades, ethologist and professor of psychology at the University of S‹o Paulo, Brazil, explains, "When two males mate, what is present is a demonstration of power, not sex."[8] Jacque Lynn Schultz, ASPCA Animal Sciences Director of Special Projects, explains further: Usually, an un-neutered male dog will mount another male dog as a display of social dominance--in other words, as a way of letting the other dog know who’s boss. While not as frequent, a female dog may mount for the same reason.[9] Dogs will also mount one another because of the vehemence of their purely chemical reaction to the smell of an estrus female: Not surprisingly, the smell of a female dog in heat can instigate a frenzy of mounting behaviors. Even other females who are not in heat will mount those who are. Males will mount males who have just been with estrus females if they still bear their scent.... And males who catch wind of the estrus odor may mount the first thing (or unlucky person) they come into contact with.[10] Other animals engage in seemingly "homosexual" behavior because they fail to identify the other sex properly. The lower the species in the animal kingdom, the more tenuous and difficult to detect are the differences between sexes, leading to more frequent confusion.

    - "Homosexual" Animals Do Not Exist In 1996, homosexual scientist Simon LeVay admitted that the evidence pointed to isolated acts, not to homosexuality: Although homosexual behavior is very common in the animal world, it seems to be very uncommon that individual animals have a long-lasting predisposition to engage in such behavior to the exclusion of heterosexual activities. Thus, a homosexual orientation, if one can speak of such thing in animals, seems to be a rarity.[11] Despite the "homosexual" appearances of some animal behavior, this behavior does not stem from a "homosexual" instinct that is part of animal nature. Dr. Antonio Pardo, Professor of Bioethics at the University of Navarre, Spain, explains: Properly speaking, homosexuality does not exist among animals.... For reasons of survival, the reproductive instinct among animals is always directed towards an individual of the opposite sex. Therefore, an animal can never be homosexual as such. Nevertheless, the interaction of other instincts (particularly dominance) can result in behavior that appears to be homosexual. Such behavior cannot be equated with an animal homosexuality. All it means is that animal sexual behavior encompasses aspects beyond that of reproduction.[12] It Is Unscientific To "Read" Human Motivation And Sentiment Into Animal Behavior Like many animal rights activists, homosexual activists often "read" human motivation and sentiment into animal behavior. While this anthropopathic approach enjoys full citizenship in the realms of art, literature, and mythology it makes for poor science. Dr. Charles Socarides of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) observes: The term homosexuality should be limited to the human species, for in animals the investigator can ascertain only motor behavior. As soon as he interprets the animal’s motivation he is applying human psychodynamics--a risky, if not foolhardy scientific approach.[13] Ethologist Cesar Ades explains the difference between human and animal sexual relations: Human beings have sex one way, while animals have it another. Human sex is a question of preference where one chooses the most attractive person to have pleasure. This is not true with animals. For them, it is a question of mating and reproduction. There is no physical or psychological pleasure....The smell is decisive: when a female is in heat, she emits a scent, known as pheromone. This scent attracts the attention of the male, and makes him want to mate. This is sexual intercourse between animals. It is the law of nature.[14] Even biologist Bruce Bagemihl, whose book Biological Exuberance: Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity was cited by the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association in their amici curiae brief in Lawrence v. Texas and is touted as proof that homosexuality is natural among animals, is careful to include a caveat: Any account of homosexuality and transgender animals is also necessarily an account of human interpretations of these phenomena....We are in the dark about the internal experience of the animal participants: as a result, the biases and limitations of the human observer--in both the gathering and interpretation of data--come to the forefront in this situation.....With people we can often speak directly to individuals (or read written accounts)....With animals in contrast, we can often directly observe their sexual (and allied) behaviors, but can only infer or interpret their meanings and motivations."[15] Dr. Bagemihl’s interpretation, however, throughout his 750-page book unabashedly favors the animal homosexuality theory. Its pages are filled with descriptions of animal acts that would have a homosexual connotation in human beings. Dr. Bagemihl does not prove, however, that these acts have the same meaning for animals. He simply gives them a homosexual interpretation. Not surprisingly, his book was published by Stonewall Inn Editions, "an imprint of St. Martin’s Press devoted to gay and lesbian interest books." Irrational Animal Behavior Is No Blueprint For Rational Man Some researchers studying animal "homosexual" behavior extrapolate from the realm of science into that of philosophy and morality. These scholars reason from the premise that if animals do it, it is according to their nature and thus is good for them. If it is natural and good for animals, they continue, it is also natural and morally good for man. However, the definition of man’s nature belongs not to the realm of zoology or biology, but philosophy, and the determination of what is morally good for man pertains to ethics. Dr. Marlene Zuk, professor of biology at the University of California at Riverside, for example, states: Sexuality is a lot broader term than people want to think. You have this idea that the animal kingdom is strict, old-fashioned Roman Catholic, that they have sex to procreate. ... Sexual expression means more than making babies. Why are we surprised? People are animals.[16] Simon LeVay entertains the hope that the understanding of animal "homosexuality" will help change societal mores and religious beliefs about homosexuality. He states: It seems possible that the study of sexual behavior in animals, especially in non-human primates, will contribute to the liberalization of religious attitudes toward homosexual activity and other forms of nonprocreative sex. Specifically, these studies challenge one particular sense of the dogma that homosexual behavior is "against nature": the notion that it is unique to those creatures who, by tasting the fruit of the tree of knowledge, have alone become morally culpable.[17] Other researchers feel compelled to point out the impropriety of transposing animal behavior to man. Although very favorable to the homosexual interpretation of animal behavior, Paul L. Vasey, of the University of Lethbridge in Canada, nevertheless cautions: For some people, what animals do is a yardstick of what is and isn’t natural. They make a leap from saying if it’s natural, it’s morally and ethically desirable. Infanticide is widespread in the animal kingdom. To jump from that to say it is desirable makes no sense. We shouldn’t be using animals to craft moral and social policies for the kinds of human societies we want to live in. Animals don’t take care of the elderly. I don’t particularly think that should be a platform for closing down nursing homes.[18] The animal kingdom is no place for man to seek a blueprint for human morality. That blueprint, as bioethicist Bruto Maria Bruti notes, must be sought in man himself: It is a frequent error for people to contrast human and animal behaviors, as if the two were homogenous. .... The laws ruling human behavior are of a different nature and they should be sought where God inscribed them, namely, in human nature.[19] The fact that man has a body and sensitive life in common with animals does not mean he is strictly an animal. Nor does it mean that he is a half-animal. Man’s rationality pervades the wholeness of his nature so that his sensations, instincts and impulses are not purely animal but have that seal of rationality which characterizes them as human. Thus, man is characterized not by what he has in common with animals, but by what differentiates him from them. This differentiation is fundamental, not accidental. Man is a rational animal. Man’s rationality is what makes human nature unique and fundamentally distinct from animal nature.[20] To consider man strictly as an animal is to deny his rationality and, therefore, his free will. Likewise, to consider animals as if they were human is to attribute to them a non-existent rationality.

From Science To Mythology Dr. Bagemihl’s Biological Exuberance research displays his fundamental dissatisfaction with science and enthusiasm for aboriginal mythology: Western science has a lot to learn from aboriginal cultures about systems of gender and sexuality...[21] To Western science, homosexuality (both animal and human) is an anomaly, an unexpected behavior that above all requires some sort of "explanation" or "cause" or "rationale." In contrast, to many indigenous cultures around the world, homosexuality and transgender are a routine and expected occurrence in both the human and animal worlds...[22] Most Native American tribes formally recognize--and honor--human homosexuality and transgender in the role of the ’two-spirit’ person (sometimes formerly known as berdache). The ’two-spirit’ is a sacred man or woman who mixes gender categories by wearing clothes of opposite or both sexes .... And often engaging in same -sex relations. ... In many Native American cultures, certain animals are also symbolically associated with two-spiritedness, often in the form of creation myths and origin legends relating to the first or "supernatural" two-spirit(s)....A Zuni creation story relates how the first two spirits--creatures that were neither male nor female, yet both at the same time--were the twelve offspring of a mythical brother-sister pair. Some of these creatures were human, but one was a bat and another an old buck Deer.[23] Dr. Bagemihl applies this androgynous myth, so widespread in today’s homosexual movement, to the animal kingdom with the help of Indian and aboriginal mythology. He invites the West to embrace "a new paradigm:"[24] Ultimately, the synthesis of scientific views represented by Biological Exuberance brings us full circle--back to the way of looking at the world that is in accordance with some of the most ancient indigenous conceptions of animal (and human) sexual and gender variability. This perspective dissolves binary oppositions....Biological Exuberance is...a worldview that is at once primordial and futuristic, in which gender is kaleidoscopic, sexualities are multiple, and the categories of male and female are fluid and transmutable.[25] Conclusion In summary, the homosexual movement’s attempt to establish that homosexuality is in accordance with human nature, by proving its animal homosexuality theory, is based more on mythological beliefs and erroneous philosophical tenets than on science.
