Gay trainer JD Jordan will make you sweat
Massage therapist turned personal trainer JD Jordan is gay, single and totally hot, but instead of picking up a trick or a boyfriend at a West Hollywood club, he landed something else: a very high-profile job.
"Someone came up to me and asked if I was a trainer," he explains. "I said I was and they asked if I would be interested in meeting Jackie and being on the show. It was totally by chance."
The "Jackie" he mentions is lesbian fitness guru Jackie Warner and the show is her Bravo hit Work Out, which uncovers the inner workings of an elite L.A. gym. The show started its third season this week.
Jordan, 26 and a native of Los Angeles, got his start doing massage in spas and health clubs until he built his own loyal clientele. He used his knowledge of anatomy from giving rubdowns and parlayed that into a career as a trainer about six months ago.
"They work together well and I still do both," he says. "It's funny because doing massage I repair what I tear down during training."
He says that training gay men is a piece of cake. "Gay men are great and so motivated," he says enthusiastically. "It's that whole obsession with having to look good, but they only focus on their tits and the arms. If you have big arms and a big chest, but a flat butt, no one wants that."
The motivation got to Jordan too, who says he gained 10 pounds of muscle during the taping of the show. "It's all about finding your 'why,' and my 'why' was being a trainer on a show called Work Out and I had to look good," he laughs.
And if looking good helps him land a masculine athletic guy to settle down with, then that's even better. "I want to meet a guy who is a partner," he confides. "I would like to meet someone and build something and be with them for awhile. I think we all would like to meet someone who would blow us away."
Jordan says he's into all types of guys, physically but that chemistry and sexual compatibility are very important (let's just say they call JD one of the top trainers for a reason).
And New York boys should take notice. Jordan recently made a trip to the Big Apple and loved what he saw here. "The guys in New York are sexier," he says, adding he would love to live here. "In L.A. they're trying to be pretty but in New York they're not trying to be anything else. They're more comfortable in their own skin."
Well, JD, if you make it to New York maybe you can head out to the club and find yourself a man and a job.
