Denmark's Top Restaurant Fined for Warm Shellfish
A Danish restaurant with three Michelin stars has been fined 20,000 kroner ($2,840) for storing fresh shellfish at too high temperatures.
When inspectors with Denmark's food administration visited the Germanium restaurant in Copenhagen on Sept. 29 on a regular random visit, they frowned.
Crayfish, scallops and oysters were kept in fridges with temperatures up to 9.2 degrees C (48.6 F) - far above the maximum 2 degree C (35.6 F).
Geranium chef Rasmus Kofoed told public broadcaster DR the errors had been corrected but admitted they may "have been a bit inattentive."
He didn't believe the fine would any impact on regular customers. In February, the eatery became the first Danish restaurant to be awarded three stars ever.
