Krewella ’Gets Wet’ with New CD & Tour
After their successful 2012 Play Hard Tour, it became clear to many that Columbia Records recording artist Krewella is a "them" and not a "her," as many have mistakenly tweeted and blogged in the past.
The contradictions don't stop there because they are not the usual electronic dance music groups we have grown accustomed. With all three bandmates (singing sisters Yasmine and Jahan Yousef, and Kris "Rain Man" Trindl, behind the deejay decks), their live shows are more of a party than a stage performance.
"It's different from a pop show where you have an artist performing and a deejay behind them playing the beats", says Jahan. "We have constant music." Ending in early 2013, the Play Hard Tour showcased the music of their #1 Billboard Dance Radio Airplay debut EP of the same name, leading Billboard to declare 2013 would be huge for the rising EDM band. It was only 3 years ago that Krewella was playing gigs for $100. I think it safe to say that those days are long gone.
As an actress, BeBe was introduced to film with a lead role in the independent film "Under One Sun" with her character dealing with religious, racial and gender issues. Additionally, she appeared in the campy musical "Devious, Inc" (Australian Film Festival, San Francisco Short Film Fest) also adding additional vocals to the musical soundtrack. Both of these performances led to her selection for a lead role in Aisha Media’s next short film series, "Con-tin.u.um" to be released in 2012.
