Watch: Adele Brings Man on Stage to Propose to His Boyfriend
Many turn to Adele's music after a breakup, but the singer helped another same-sex couple get engaged.
The singer is currently touring in Melbourne, Australia and is making headlines after she invited a man on stage, in front of 77,000 people, so he could propose to his boyfriend, the BBC reports.
For his 40th birthday present, Wade Nicholas-Doyle took his boyfriend Chris to Adele's show over the weekend. But Chris got more than he bargained for when the singer brought the men on stage. That's when Nicholas-Doyle got down on one knee and proposed to his partner, sparking loud cheers and applause from the crowd.
"Did you say yes?" Adele said before hugging the men. "I actually had no idea that was going to happen. Congratulations!"
Speaking with the BBC, Nicholson-Doyle said the moment flew by him.
"It just kind of blacked out and all I could see was Chris and Adele standing there," he said. "To share the stage with her, if only for five minutes, is really incredible. We're very much in her debt."
Same-sex marriage isn't legal in Australia and a proposal for a vote was blocked by lawmakers last year, the BBC notes.
Nicholson-Doyle said the couple has yet to make plans about a ceremony, adding "Chris' head is still spinning at the moment."
This isn't the first time Adele, who recently got married herself, helped a gay couple propose.
Last May, the British singer invited a fan on stage at a show in Copenhagen, Denmark where he popped the question to his partner.
