James Woods Doubles Down on Anderson Cooper 'Butt Plug' Tweet, Accuses Critics of Overreacting

Monday May 15, 2017

After being showered with criticism following a tweet he posted about openly gay CNN actor Anderson Cooper and a buttplug last week, conservative actor James Wood, returned to social media Saturday to accuse his critics of overreacting.

Anderson Cooper's now famous eye roll during his interview with White House counsellor Kellyanne Conway last week drew headlines and laughs from many frustrated with the Trump spokesperson's breathless doublespeak.

But Oscar-nominated actor James Woods appeared far from amused. In a tweet, Woods blasted Cooper using a gif of the on-air eye roll and the following text:

"As his butt plug dislodges during a newscast ... #andersoncoopereyeroll"

The tweet immediately drew criticism, but Woods was back on Twitter Saturday night to blast his critics for making too much of his homophobia.

"The scariest thing for #liberals when they have a hissy fit is that moment when nobody cares. For the record I couldn't care less..." he tweeted.

This wasn't the first time one of the actor's tweets landed him in the headlines. In October 2016, he was blasted for publicly declaring that he hoped an anonymous Twitter user "died in agony."

Stuff.co.nz notes that earlier in 2016, Woods won the right to sue an anonymous Twitter user for $10 million for accusing him of being a cocaine addict. Woods took to Twitter to celebrate that the user dropped his appeal only to find out the case was dropped because the user died. He responded by tweeting that he hoped he died "in agony." The tweets were subsequently deleted by Woods.
